ok so i've been to disneyworld more time then i could count. but never to disneyland, since we have moved from FL to Tx. we are exaclty half way in between the two disney properties. we are planning a trip to Disneyland in about 2 years. (yes its far but we have a lot happening right now) I want to see if I can reserve it or at least the hotel as soon as it is available so I can pay monthly on it. I do not think we'll be able to afford to stay right on disney but I notice they have lots of off site properties where you can still get dining and tickets etc. any one recommend any of these?? Thanks!

Off Disneyland property, I've stayed at The Coachman Inn, The Hilton Inn and Suites, The Desert Palms Inn and Suites, the Sheraton Anaheim, and Motel 6. Since I'm local, I usually browse the internet for hotel deals and jump on the lowest one. :) If I'm just looking for a place to lay my head and shower, Motel 6 is my prefence. It saves me money and I've traveled all over CA and stayed with them and had only 1 negative experience. I enjoyed the Sheraton quite a bit (especially if you can get upgraded to a starwood room, which often happens for free if you ask ;) ). I had a good experience at the Desert Palms Inn and Suites and the Hilton Inn and Suites. Out of the two, I found that the rooms in the Palms were larger and quieter for your money, but darker in general as well. The Palms also seemed closer as far as walking distance goes.

You can also catch a tram from most area hotels to Disneyland. The Sheraton shuttle was really good. The Hilton uses the ARTS transportation and seemed to take a long time.

I'm not sure how far out in advance you can reserve these properties, but you can always contact a travel agent, let them know when you want to go and they can keep tabs on that for you.
