Bigger buses means less need for more buses... but it seems the problem is in how quickly they can load the buses.. and less how many buses they have.

More double doors and kneeling buses for the 'large' american crowd and strollers.

The buses used on airport tarmacs at many large airports fit this bill..

Kneeling buses are a godsend for those who are traveling with disabled or handicapped family, my mother is in her 80's and can't do the steps on the bus so a kneeling bus is a blessing for her.
