WDWCP and College Credits

Hey everyone!

I have a question that maybe somebody here can help me answer. I am dying to do the CP once I get into college this fall(applying for spring '08), but I was wondering how the program cooperates with your credits. The reason why I ask is because I have a full tuition-paid scholarship for two years at community and two years at state. I'm scared that if I do the CP I will be behind on my college credits and end up losing my scholarship. Does going through the program put you behind for graduation or are you still able to stay up-to-date with credits? Anyone have similar experiences and can help me out?

Yup. There is information that you can give your school from Disney stating the courses that you can take from them. It describes what they are and how many credits they suggest your school gives you for them. Other than that you can take courses online and many people do an independent study about the program itself and turn that in when they get back for a number of credits.

It's different for every school and it's often different for every participant from that school. If you are creative enough you can find a way that you wouldn't lose your scholarship. Congrats on the scholarship, BTW...

Thanks for your help. I know I'll have to figure it all out once I get to college, but I just wanted to get as much information together as possible so it won't be as overwhelming when the time comes. I will do whatever it takes to be able to do the WDWCP, I just can't wait to do it.

Well if the scholarship is based on how many college credits you've taken, can't you just take summer school classes? I got 6 credits knocked out last summer. So this summer you could go 6, take 17 in the fall, 16 in the spring, then 6 the following summer and then go to Disney. You'd have 45 college credits, and the average at the end of your fall semester for soph. year is 45.

Summer school is definitely one way to get it your credits. If you can't/don't want to do summer school and your school won't grant you the credit, you can apply for credit through another school. The CP website lists five schools that grant to students all over the country. Of course your school then has to accept the credit transfer from the other school, which could be a pain, and also if you have scholarships/loans that depend on you remaining a full time student, you could have problems.

I am a student at Purdue University, and actually Purdue is one of the schools listed on the CP website as one that grants credit, but I'm in the management school and the credit is granted through the school of technology. For some stupid reason they won't take the Tech credit :veryconfu , so I was thinking of getting the credit through CMU. Their website is http://www.wdwcp.cmich.edu/
