My husband and I are first time parents, bringing our daughter to Disney in October. She will be 11 months then. Reading all these feeds sure makes you think about everything you forgot or didn't think of at all. A high hair for example. Any good ideas/advice for us newbie parents? Do we have our work cut out for us:)

We brought our Daughter when she was 11 months old, it is a different type of trip when you travel with little ones. What type of resort are you staying at? I have seen on amazon a type of high chair that is fabric you slip over the back of the chair and then it has straps and buckles great for traveling. Does your daughter sleep well in a stroller there are a bunch of great quiet nap spots if you just look off the beaten path. The monorail is also a great nap place it is cool and you can keep riding as long as you like. Take n toss cups and spoons and such are your friend. Have Fun, any other questions Just ask. :D

Remember that each park has a Baby Care Center. Epcot's is in the Odyssey Center. DHS it is directly to your left as you walk in the gates. Animal Kingdom on Discovery Island, on the left just before you cross the bridge to Africa. In Magic Kingdom it is by The Crystal Palace. They have rocking chairs, changing tables, a bathroom, cold water and some baby supplies on hand. A great place to go for some quiet and air conditioning.

We always brought a towel or something that we could drape over the stroller to get them to nap. You shouldn't have to worry about overheating in October, but some people buy those battery operated fans that clamp on the stroller.

Bring a change of clothes with in a large gallon size zip-lock bag. That way if you need to, those stay dry until you need them and then you have a place to put the wet ones.

Goldfish crackers.

We always made a stop at the dollar store before we left and got Disney "stuff" we could break out in lines. Worked wonders.

Thanks so much! We are staying at POFQ. I did see that cloth high chair online also. I appreciate you response!

Thank you! You have a wealth of information here that I greatly appreciate. You seem to know the ins and outs of the parks for the little ones! Thanks for taking the time to respond :)

We took our Sons for the first time when the little one was 13 months old. I found that a baby carrier (I used the Peanut Shell sling) was a live safer! I could just jump on and off buses, monorails and boats then transfer him to the stroller (we rented a double park stroller, as the "big" brother was only 3) when I grew tired of carrying him.
Also, unless you plan to spend a lot of "meal time" in your room, I personally wouldn't worry about a hair chair. All of the restaurants have plenty of them available.

I actually bought the cloth high chair also, it's great, but you have to be careful because it doesn't fit on all types of chairs, so it will depend where you eat. All the restaurants have high chairs anyway so I really wouldn't worry about that.

All of the restaurants have high chairs, but I would suggest bringing some antibacterial wipes to clean them off before putting little one in there! We brought our high chair cover with us (we have a Jeep stroller with lots of room, so lugging it around wasn't an issue for us) and that worked out great. You never know who sat in there last, and the last time they were thoroughly cleaned!

Our daughter was a week shy of a year. The very best advice I can give is stick to your sleep schedule and routine as best you can. With naps, she was great about sleeping in the stroller, but we did make the mistake of trying to push it our first night, and paid the price. Our daughter fought going to sleep so hard (overtired, new environment, our bed next to hers, etc.), that she didn't go down til almost midnight, and was pretty cranky as a result the next day. Unless you have a wonder child, surrender to the fact you will have much earlier nights than you are used to at WDW, but the payoff will be an amazing trip for everyone. One day I could tell she had had enough of lines and rides, and we went back for a break and swam and napped, and she was great after!

We avoided fireworks like the plague because she despised them. As for characters, we showed her a TON of youtube videos before we left of what the characters looked like, and some days she loved them, some days not so much, but she always loved them from afar.

Our best purchase was a mini fan that attached to her stroller. It kept her pretty cool even when it was 95, and so many people asked us where we bought them because they wanted one for their child! You can get them on Amazon for about 10 bucks.
