hello everyone my wife and I are going down in december with our son for his first trip, he'll be almost 1. Does anybody know if there are rides that he can go on besides dumbo, and stuff like that? Any help is appreciated.

He can go on anything that does not have a height requirement, which is actuallly quite a bit. Alot of people are under the impression that babies and younger children can't go on much at WDW, but that is not the case.

In fact, he can go on the majority of attractions at the MK.

Here is a list from this website of rides with restrictions: http://www.wdwmagic.com/height_restrictions.htm

Also, if you look at the attraction descriptions on the WDW website (and in most guide books) it will tell you if the ride has a height restriction.

Our youngest was 12 months old on her first trip and we had a blast! The only problem that might come up is if he happens to be scared of the darker rides....but there is really no way to know until you try it. All kids are different....some do get scared, but most do not. My daughter was not scared of any of any rides at that age...not even Haunted Mansion or Pirates (but at age 2 1/2 she was scared of the darker rides). Start him off on the rides in Fantasy Land first to see how he does with those, then work your way up to the darker rides. Have fun!

It's great to get 'em started young....my DS was 6 months on our first trip with him. I think it makes them not afraid of dark rides and the characters, at least in our case. We took him at Christmastime too, he was wide eyed the whole time looking at all of the decorations!:xmas:

If it has no height requirement then baby can go on. When DS was small his favorites were Pirates, Small World, Haunted Mansion, Pooh, Buzz, and TTA at MK. At AK there are plenty of animals to see. DHS has the Playhouse Disney Show and the Muppet movie that are not to be missed and EPCOT has the Nemo stuff.

We took our youngest at 13 mos and it was a blast!! She took naps when she was tired and snacked all from the stroller. But I definitly suggest bring your stroller. Do not rent one of the WDW ones.

She loved POTC but HATED Cindy's Carousel.

we took my 10 month old daughter and she went on everything with us - including the safari in AK. We didn't take her on the "big rides" such as the Mountains in MK, Test Track or Soarin in Epcot, Star Tours in HS, or Dinosour in AK. Other than that, she sat on my lap for everything!

There are many rides for teeny guys, but remember that the best part of Disney for him will be the lights, colors, change of venue, and extra attention from you. However, for a one-year-old...

MK
Dumbo (maybe not though - very fast for a baby)
Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
Small World
Tomorrowland Transit Authority
Country Bear Jamboree

HS
Voyage of Little Mermaid (may be too loud, though)
Toy Story Mania (obviously he won't play, but he'll like the visuals)
Playhouse Disney
Beauty and the Beast

AK
Kilimanjaro Safaris
Maharaja Jungle Trek
Rafiki's Planet Watch
Festival of the Lion King
Finding Nemo

The only park to avoid is Epcot, though the Living Seas and The Land are hits with little ones if you are okay with mostly just wandering around. Don't forget street theater and character meets for all parks.
