I've had this idea for about a month now because WDW racing was sort of a bad game and WDW deserves better.
The gameplay is like a mix of Zelda and Kingdom Hearts.
Playable characters I have decided on so far include: Mickey, Figment, Minnie, Goofy, Stitch, Aladar, Simba and Donald Duck.
The game's story starts on a seemingly average day at WDW yet all of a sudden, darkness and chaos have covered the land and this darkness seems to have come from the villians alliance. As you get further into the game, you team up with over 25 characters, unlock attractions, learn magic spells, and collect special costumes for a variety of purposes like puzzle solving, accessing more powerful spells and other neat stuff.
Pleaserespond and maybe even contribute. I'll give more details on costumes, attractions in the game, spells, and bosses.

If you have seen my new avatar,it's a mockup of mickey using a powerful spell in my game idea. It's the fireworks spell and it is like a Light Arrow(destroys an enemy on contact). The lighting is to defend so nobody sneaks up behind Mickey when he charges the spell. I'll start my walkthrough and introduce characters, costumes, spells and special appearances by a classic epcot character.

You begin in Mickey's house after a dream sequence and exit the house. You have a basic attack and paralyze spell to start with.Since those spells are minor ones, you don't need a charm or apprentice robe yet.Other characters run to your house and your party now includes Mickey(yourself), Minnie, Goofy, and Donald.Your 1st encounter with shadows begins and are easily defeated. We cut to Epcot when Figment wakes up. He recieves a blimp baloon and is curious how it appeared. He experiences memories of old epcot. We return to our heroes who enter Fantasyland.
to be continued.....

You know, you may be on to something here... but, personally, when I sat down a few weeks ago and played my friend's import copy of Made in Wario (aka. "WarioWare" in the US, for Game Boy Advance), I got the idea that this is the best format for a game based on Walt Disney World.

For thoes not in the know, Wario Ware is a game that throws more than 200 5-second "microgames" at players, in rapid fire succession. With each level, the games get harder and faster. The sheer joy comes from the Japanese quirkyness of it.

Imagine, if you will, a microgame where you have 5 seconds to stop a single Space Mountian car at the station. Pressing the "A" button on the Game Boy Advance would slow it down... later levels would increase the speed and the number of cars you have to slow down.

I think this would be just as cool and adicting as Wario Ware is now (I own the American version, by the way, and it's really worth the purchase).

Here are some ideas for the bosses:

Fronteirland- Ber Bear and Ber Fox

Epcot- World Showcase- trolls from Norway
Future World- A blood cell from Body Wars :)lol:)(?)

MGM Studios- Malificent (would be better here then at Fantasyland)

Fantasyland- Any of these (Captain Hook or Wicked Witch)

Keep up the good work

One of my ideas was that you could don a troll mask and talk to the 3 headed troll to learn water spells. I will continue my walkthrough now: You arrive in Fantasyland and you start up a few atomosphere attractions(Dumbo, Mad tea party, and the carrousel)At Winnie the Pooh, you defeat some Heffalumps and Woozles and free pooh. Tigger and Pooh join your team. Tigger has bounciness to take down enemies, and Pooh can lay sticky traps of hunny which can also act as potions. You encounter Mr Toad who has somehow been summoned to the Magic Kingdom and he's in a Nautilus too:D We again cut to Figment who has been seeing illusions of Horizons,WoM,Kitchen Kaberet and other classic attractions. He passes out and awakes in First Aid. He now has an Idea Bag.
Cut back to Magic Kingdom where you unlock snow white and Peter Pan. Peter and Tinkerbell teach your party to fly. As Mickey, you fly to a tall spire of cinderella castle and get the tailor's tunic and are now able to wield a sword.
To be continued

Wow thats a pretty cool idea too bad well proably never see a WDW game like that. I have an idea for an EPCOT boss you could fight eisner and try to stop him from replacing classic EPCOT rides (Ex.Horizons) with cheap thrill rides and the time you defeat him in affects how EPCOT will look when you go back in the park.(Ex.If you defeat him after he closes and ruins/or demolishes a classic ride you see where the ride once was now stands a thrill ride.)

Tahu,

And really anyone else interested in this sort of thing...

There is no reason why this game need never see the light of a monitor or television screen.

Do not be negative. If you have a good game idea, well balanced and commercially viable then it is just a matter of writing up a design document and hype packet for the idea and presenting it to the right people.

There are several books on how to do just this in bookstores and possibly your school library.

In the old days programmers designed games... but now there are game designers... people who just design games.

Think that because you may still be in high school or college that you can't do this? Think again with enough imagination and persistence you can MAKE your dream game come true.

If you can't get to the right people with the design specs and description hype... then gather about you people skilled in the art of code, the art of music and the art of .. uh .. art. And make it yourselves -- as a technical demo THEN present it to the right people. You never know, someone may throw a couple of million and a design team your way to make the next playstation hit.

Iam pretty sure Disney Interactive as most software companys do not take ideas from the general public - reason beign if they make zillions off your idea, they gotta pay you.

Disney Interactive may not -- note that I am stressing the word may. But other companies do. Many of the best video games are created in this way.

Kingdom Hearts is an example of a Disney game done by another company (squaresoft).

The thing is you will never know unless you try, and try hard if you haven't made a name for yourself yet (haven't had your name on a published game).

If you have a great idea, and then plan the game out in detail as far as game play etc. AND create a good game description (hype) you can get a game published -- it almost works the same way as writing a good screenplay and having it produced.

Disney themed games need not go through Disney Interactive as far as I know... there are other licensing options though DI may require their approval for the licensing.

But let's say you have come up with what you and your friends think would be a great game. You have worked out the details of gameplay etc. You have determined that the game is technically feasible to do upon modern PC's or consoles -- basically done your homework -- you have even created a game description document to "sell" the game to a producer or studio.

What you should do, in my opinion, is make contacts within the gaming industry. Go to the Game Developers conference held each year in may, and attend the E3 expo, also held yearly... and NETWORK. You can get a great game you have designed published. And if you have already had a game published, you can get nearly ANY game published (even a really sucky one as far too many people know).

There are also plenty of independant developers out there who might give it a shot.

Another potential option is to make this a home-brew game. There are people in this very forum who are good with computers, and might be able to make this happen. Heck, if I wasn't working on Virtual WDW right now, I would probably give it a shot.

You are working on a Virtual WDW? COOL!!!!! What type of thing is it?( Sim, 3D Screensaver, etc.) Will it be available for public download? I hope it won't be on the mIRC( I don't like it; too complicated). Thanks. If not, we will it be? Can I see some screenshots or are they still in planning?

In order to access the west half of the park, you need to ride the train to frontierland,as the hub is closed off.Music does play a role in tis game. You have a wrist music player and some certain songs will acess new areas.Example:You need to play one little spark to summon the dreamfinder in mousegear. Also the brains of the shadow enemies cannot handle It's a small world.Play zip a dee doo dah to enter splash mountain. You find music in different spots like gift shops,or around the park.

I thought of adding some of my original characters to the game. The additional heroes include the 4 key players in a cartoon series i've been planning for the future,a band of chickens out to stop the evil forces of Ducko:an evil duck bent on global conquest, and Zandor;the lord of darkness, evil and chaos.
I've thought of putting in a sonic adventure element:the perspective of the adventure from the multiple character teams:M-team(the main party of the game),figment, and VAC(the original characters)

More details on Figment's Quest:Figment seeks out Rafiki in the Africa area and fights Hyenas and gets caught in a wildebeast stampede.Eventually he finds Rafiki and is contacted by Dreamfinder via the clouds because it's just cool.Figments Quest is to find the other 2 sages at WDW(Rafiki and DF being the sages of AK and Epcot)Merlin is MK's sage, but I need someone for MGM.

Anybody remember the Duke Nukem level where you save Pirates of the Caribbean, The Haunted Mansion, and Space Mountain from aliens? It's actually a really mind-blowing level with all kinds of special effects and a nearly psychopathic attention to detail.

In a MOL esque twist, Mickey finds that he himself is the sage of Mgm. Meanwhile, Figment tries to get into the castle dongeon to free Dreamfinder. He suceeds, but is then shot down. The 4 sages use their power to lower the castle and reveal it's location.
Mickey and the gang enter the castle, but are seperated and face their shadow twins, Very difficult bosses that mirror your every move. After defating them and finding the shadow, The whole of WDW is shrouded in Darkness. You'll need all the help you can get in the Shadowlands so you have to save all the characters. Your final battle with the shadow demon takes place on the highest places in WDW, The park icons,TOT,JII, and the disney mountains.

I want volunteers to write the game's script. I will have a description of a scene, and you can e-mail me your scripts. I will then take the best elements out of them and mix them together.
You can also send in Illustrations for your take on the scene.
I can start on the begining of the game.
It was early morning at the magic kingdom. All the characters were asleep, but did not notice the shadows crawling over the sky. Mickey's dreams were filled with terror and darkness as the parks were falling under the power of darkness. He abruptly woke up in his bed in Toon town. A dark fog covered the land. Mickey gathered his supply of magic pixie dust and went outside. Some of the other inhabitants of toon town including Minnie, Donald, and Goofy were awake and outside. They were curious about this black fog and united as a team to find out what was going on.Then out of the fog, terrible creatures of shadow appeared. They attacked but were no match for Mickey and his friends powers. They knew that WDW was in deep trouble and they had to stop these forces. Mean while, at Epcot, Figment's dreams were ven worse. He saw Dreamfinder, but he was in grave trouble and was taken by shadows. He saw attractions falling just as Horizons and WoM did. He woke with a shock and started to see images of what the blck fog could possibly do to his home.He also had to face shadows, and with the sparks of imagination, he triumphed over his foes. But he knew that he had to find more. It seemed as if Dreamfinder was guiding him to help Epcot and then go to Animal Kingdom to see Rafiki, so he could find what his destiny had in store for him. End games opening.
