I've only been on the "Keys to the Kingdom" tour but it was great. It's about $50 (plus MK admission) and well worth it. Of all the terrific things I did-rides, shows, parades, etc.- on my last trip, it was my favorite. It was about a 4 1/2 tour through the MK onstage and backstage. I thought going in the "Utilidors" under MK would be my favorite part, but it was really learning about the park's history, Walt's philosophy, and interacting with other Disney fans. It was just wonderful. I would definately recommend it.

On my next trip, I'm thinking of going on a 7-hour 3 park (all except AK) tour for about $200. If you want more information, i would suggest searching the forums for them-- people discuss them all the time. Incidentally the "keys to the Kingdom" are safety, courtesy, show, and efficiency (though i can't remember in which order)

Hope this helps, and have a great time!

I've never been on any of the tours myself...:(

I'd really love to do "Keys to the Kingdom" though - it sounds like beyond Fabulous! :D

Do these tours not spoil the fantasy & magic behind everything that is Disney ?
I mean what would happen if you saw two Mickeys walking in the back stage areas at the same time
I'm all for informative tours but not at the expense of spoiling the magic.

Well, I am 17 now, and I took the keys to the kingdom this year and when i was 12. I was the first child under 17 to go into the utilidors cause they changed the age for a few months to 12. And it did spoil the magic a little for me when i was young. I knew of course that the characters weren't real, but seeing minnie as a man with a dirty beard was a bit startling. So I told the guide, and the next year i learned they raised the age again. When I went back this year it didn't spoil the magic at all. It only added to it. They point out special things that you wouldnt normally notice--only enhances the magic. I highly recommend that tour. It really is incredible.

All of the tours are very good and well worth the money. I suggest that you do your homework and pick something that you would love to do. If you need any help, I do have all of the info on them all.

I paid $199 for the best tour they have, the Backstage magic. It was incredible. We had a coach to take us aroung WDW all day with free drinks (I say free, but we all paid two hundred dollars for being there hehe :animwink: ). We had lunch in Mama Melrose in MGM. I saw so much that Ill never be able to describe in words. You really have to see it to believe it.

I went in mid July and there were about 15 in my group. Best parts were visiting central stores, and backstage in the American Adventure in Epcot Showcase.

My tour lasted all day and we all got a souveneir at the end. :)

I've done the Inside Animation and Gardens of the World Tours and enjoyed them very much. On my next trip I will do the Backstage Safari

In the Keys to the Kingdom tour, they did not take us to the costuming department, probably for this reason. Therefore, for me it did not ruin the magic at all, it enhanced it.

It doesn't take away from the magic at all...in fact, it actually adds some. I have taken Keys to the Kingdom and the EPCOT Undiscovered Future World Tour. Both are GREAT; really worth the money. Be sure to request Tall Paul if you're "Keys"!

Yeah. But, it's not like I thought Mickey was a genuine rodent in the first place. At some level, you know it is a guy (more likely a gal) in a costume.

I found the Keys to the Kingdom fascianting because I like to know how things work. And the Magic Kingdom is one complex machine. I found it really interesting to learn the logistics behind making everything run smoothly. ( How would you remove tha trash left behind by 30,00 people each day? Their solution is decidedly unique.)

I saw some chipmunks walking by with their heads off, and I saw Ariel punching in for work, but I still have a good time when I go to WDW.

I took the Hidden Treasures of the World Showcase tour this summer, it added infinately to the magic.

I've always known Disney pays attention to the little things, but my god, I had no idea.

A couple tidbits-
Hard to make Canada look like it's snow covered. In winter they plant white wildflowers to make it look snowcovered. As spring comes, they start removing the flowers in patches so it looks like patchy snow melting, just like way up north. Something you would never know, or even think about, unless you're at Epcot every day!

The Eiffel (sp) Tower in France was built using the original blueprints from Paris. In fact, it's the version Eiffel drafted BEFORE the one used in Paris (other engineers thought the original version wouldn't stay upright).

This tour was the most amazing 3 hours I've spent on Disney property. Do not hesitate one second to take it.
