Would anyone recommend/not recommend staying through the thanksgiving holidays at WDW? I wondered if it was exceptionally crowded, or there were any other downfalls of this time of year?

thanks in advance for any help! :)

With the exception of rescheduling our trip last year (moved to October due to the Sept mess), we have always gone on\around Thanksgiving. Last few trips, we actually left Thanskgiving night, and get there by day break.

This is always our preferred time to go, and they're usually getting, or have, all the Christmas decorations up.

I've never been bothered by heavy crowds, but it can be crowded right around Thanksgiving, and usually drops a bit before Christmas rolls around. The nights can get cool, but not terribly bad (of course every one has their own temperature limit). But, as I said, all except for last year, all my trips have been at this time. I recommend it.

Oh, and welcome to the board. :)

I went during Thanksgiving 1997 and it was busy but not as busy as Christmas or Easter. Lines were long and I know it was5 years ago but it might be even worse now.

It a good time to be there almost better than being there at Christmas.

thanks mobilebadboy and Rdedeian for your quick replies! :)

I wondered about the weather, but my other option is end of January '03 and I thought it would be even cooler then?

i've been several times during the Thanksgiving holidays! very nice time to go!! the crowds are pretty medium...if i remember right, Thanksgiving Day, the crowds slim down just a bit. the climate is a bit on the cool side esp. at night, so definately take a jacket. and they've got the Christmas decorations out by Thanksgiving! last time i went during Thanksgiving, we saw the Osborne Lights at MGM, and it was 'snowing' all down New York Street...first time it 'snowed' while i was at Disney, so that was a really great surprise!
but i mean, crowd or not, you'll have a great time not matter what time you go! if you can handle a medium crowd, and a bit cooler FL climate, you'll be fine and you should definately try going that time! at least once....you'll never know if you'll like it then if you don't try!

To me...January is the time to go...the parks are dead....only time i saw them more dead was when we went 2 weeks after the 9/11 tragedy.

Only downside is that BB is closed :(
