My father is considering moving to FL.and dreams of being a fishing guide at WDW. For those that are scratching their heads, a fishing guide is someone who take people out on fishing excursions throughout the resort on lakes and such.
Can anyone point me to any info about being a fishing excursion CM? pay? qualifications? how to get the job?

I went to casting back in Aug. to find out all this but she would only tell me that they didnt have any positions availible at the time, no matter his experience. (he has had his own guide service for 35 years)

any info would be appreciated. :)

I went on a fishing excursion about 11 years ago and it was great.

I would contact casting and ask them, they would know the best. hope this helps.

Fishing is currently in a hiring standdown right now and probably will be through the winter. He would most likely have to sign on as part time guide and float between the lakes and wait for a full time opening if that is his goal, as most of the full time guides have many years of seniority. It is a labor grade 3 role which means starting at $7.25. It is not technically a tipped role but it regularly happens and the managers know this. My observations for typical families seemed to be about $15-20/trip, but of course this varies on the amount of fun you have with the guest and/or the fish caught. Fishing is less of a challenge at Bay Lake vs Downtown Disney for example.

Hope that helps. I can't really help with the qualification aspect but If you like I can PM you the contact information for the man in charge of fishing operations. It sounds like your Dad would be a great pick though.
