WDW Pictures - Circa 1975

I loved looking at Laura's pics, so I thought I'd post the ones I have from my first Disney vacation from the mid 70s.

We stayed at the Poly ... but I completely remember wanting to be at the Contemporary - because afterall, the monorail goes THROUGH the hotel. ;) (Which is probably the reason why I keep choosing the Contemp as an adult!)

I hesitated to pull these out of the album individually to scan them - I didn't think some of them would hold up. Hope you can see them!

nice pictures, I love seeing them... I made my first trip in 1975...I was 17 and it was the last "family vacation" I went on. Can't find any pictures... not even sure if we took any. :veryconfu

Those are VERY cool, Holly! Wow...the outside of the Contemporary looked so CLEAN! And the Poly looked so different back then.

Our first trip to WDW was Feb. 1979...your pics look a lot like mine (grin).

Those are so neat! Love the pics of you swimming in the lagoon!!! And Discovery Island (I'm guessing that's what those were from). Thanks!!

The photo of the flower cart brings back memories. I think that was my moms favorite location in the parks for photos. I was very sad when they took it out....

That flower cart was my mom's favorite spot as well. We have pictures from us in 1987 during Christmas time when they replaced it with a sleigh. I miss that little side of Center Street.

I keep meaning to post pictures that my mom took from 1971... but that would require digging out the scanner from storage and hooking it up... too much work...

But I'm loving the retro pics!!!

Thank you so much for posting your pictures.

My husband and I honeymooned at WDW in Oct. 1974. My pictures are in one of those magnetic albums like yours are. We had our film develped at WDW and sent home for us. They were there when we got back from our honeymoon. We got a picture of Cinderella's Castle with the words "Our Disney World Vacation" over it for every roll of film they developed. It makes for a great presentation in our honeymoon album.

I have pictures that my husband took of me by the flower cart, too. I would give ANYTHING to be that thin again. LOL

We spent two nights in a tower room at the Contemporary with a Lagoon View, and then 3 nights in a ground floor room in the Polynesian with a Lagoon View. I have pictures of Goofy and Donald watersking outside our room. I also have a picture of me with Chip that was taken when we got off the elevator at the Contemporary our first morning there. I have the similar pictures to yours from Discovery Island, except I also have one of one of the black swans attacking my husband and grabbing his pant leg.

What a wonderful time we had. I wish WDW could still be that way. In certain ways I think it has gotten almost too big and overwhelming, but I still love it anyway.

Thanks for sharing your pics and bringing back wonderful memories.
