WDW Mini Update

Here are some interesting happenings in the parks...

Magic Kingdom-The castle in my opinion is better in person. The mirror was changing and I noticed the names of the parks and the years changed colors when they changed at night. I got to go backstage for Magic Music Days, very cool but lips are sealed...lol. The VMK building is open (I have a picture once I figure out how to upload pictures, help would be appreciated). The Wishes show I thought was cool but I liked the old one better.

Epcot-Not much going on here...didn't get to see WoL, sorry. Spaceship Earth was sad, nobody in line or on the ride and looking just old. The exit is still bare with just a walled in walkway to the exit. Went on Soarin'. Fastpasses were gone by noon so we waited 80 minutes (the sign said the wait was 110 minutes!) but it was worth it. Here comes some actual news!

Studios-(Notice I didn't call it MGM because I don't understand what is going on...) First of all...on Star Tours C3PO's leg is not painted (maybe that is intentional...?) and his hands weren't working. The San Francisco facade was still not finished, the upright corner was gray and it looked just bad. Neither Indiana Jones nor LMAX were working (we thought because of the rain...). The lines here wern't bad at all. We waited about 30 minutes for R&RC.

Animal Kingdom-EVEREST IS HUGE! You don't know 'til you see it. The rockwork is looking nice, I have some pics I'll try to put on. People were standing on the rocks near the paths to see over the fence, but I was being good although I was sooo tempted. Next comes Kilomanjaro Safaris...One road in the giraffe area was taken out or something and there was a large patch of dirt with some skimpy looking branches to "cover it up." A little ways down from there was a walled in area with signs saying "Serengeti Eco-Hydrology Research Project." The guide said they were trying to make better use of the extra rainwater. I think he might have been telling the truth or it had something to do with the drainage problems.

That's pretty much what I saw. I'll try to upload some pictures. If anyone wants to help please do.

Thanks for the updates!

Did the VMK take over the Main Street Cinema?

(I really wish they'd put it in Tomorrowland, like Disneyland does  ).

Well...It's not really a Cinema anymore, they just made it another gift shop a few years back, so it might as well be vmk.

You're right... I thought the gift shop was the limit. I'm curious to hear of all the theming.

Just doesn't seem as appropriate for the Turn of the Century America. . . could have just as easily been set a few feet away in Tomorrowland as a celebration of future technologies.

Give me back those Mickey 'toons...

This is indeed intentional. In Empire Strikes Back (I believe) C3PO is disassembled, and when he's put back together they couldn't find his leg, so they used a different one. Since Star Tours takes place after the original trilogy, it was left silver, the color of the replacement leg.

Originally, when the attraction opened, I believe both legs were gold, however, the Star Wars buffs complained that it was inacurate, so Disney changed it.

::EDIT:: I'm just going back to revise what I said. C3PO's leg was silver from the first movie (Episode IV). I'm not entirely sure about Disney having to change the one in the ride. I had never noticed this before I watched to movie tonight. :)

Thanks for the explaination because it bothers me every time to see it silver. Now I know that it is supposed to be that way.

I think the toons are playing in the back of Exposition Hall, aren't they?

We went in last month for the first time in years and saw at least Steamboat Willie and a Silly Symphonies there.

3PO's leg was silver in Episode IV "A New Hope" (the first Star Wars film in 77) it was gold in Episode III so we can assume that something happened to it in the 20 year gap of those films. It has been silver at Star Tours from day one.

The VMK area did take over the cinema area. Sorry for the wait on pictures. Hopefully they will be here tomorrow!?:)

The Same film that once played at the Main Street Cinema showing cartoons now plays in the Exposition Hall. You have to Walk WAY back to see it! Also, there is a car back there that just says WDW transportation, but it is an actual vechile from the former Mr. Toad's Wild Ride in Fantasyland, just painted different. just some worthless disney knowledge!

The only cartoon I saw in the Exposition Hall was "Flowers and Trees." I couldn't find the entrance to "Mickey's Big Break." Does it still show at the park?

I know Disneyland has six Mickey Cartoons showing at once in its Main Street Cinema. Anyone know if this was the original setup of ours?
