I wouldn't worry too much about it. The marathon starts around 5am and most runners make it through the parks by 9. The only trouble you may have is driving around WDW. I worked at the event and I would have to say that Epcot gets the most of the runners. The marathon ran until 1pm or so. Parts of the promenade/walkway of Epcot will be closed off during the day but will be opened up by the afternoon. Runners are supposed to make it to certain check points. If they don't they're cut from the race. That way, the parks won't be tied up all day long. The parks won't be crowded. At least what I saw in Epcot.

I agree with CP2000. We were there for the 2002 marathon. Apparently there were some roads closed, because we took an alternate route from Wilderness Lodge to MGM. It didn't really affect me, because we were using WDW transportation (yeah!!). I let the bus driver figure it out and stress about the traffic jam.

The route goes through the Studios, and it was fun to see them running through. CM's were there to cheer for them, and got us involved also. There were characters to give "high fives" and quite a few runners stopped for autographs. They had half of the street blocked off for the runners,

The marathon was on our "leaving day", and it stands to reason that there were quite a few marathoners and their families there a few days before the race. However, the crowds were light, and I don't think they had that big an impact on ride lines.
