WDW Internet Access

I'll be going to WDW the first wek of June. I need to know if there is any place I can check my email on site. I didn't want to bring a lap top alone. I don't have a national ISP, so in order for me to log in to check my email would require a long distance phone call.

I know Disney used to have e-mail checking machines in the World Showcase at Epcot... (however, I'm sure they charged an arm and a leg)... Also, you might be able to try something over at Innoventions... Another place is at Disney Quest, they have a few computers set up for email at the FoodQuest...

We used the internet access at our hotel (off-site) in April - wasn't free, but the charge was modest (approx $10 for 45 minutes or so ). It was a REAL slow time of day when we used it, so maybe the fee reflected that. I can't think of anywhere that it's free on-site, but maybe someone else can.

Fuzzylogic...

Yes...there is a 75 cent charge for local calls and 800 #s when you use the room phones.

The only time you don't get charged when using a room phone is when you are calling Room service/Guest Services/ etc.

Yeah, I was really surprised they charged .75 for every single call. I would use my prepaid card everytime I made a call. One day we were trying to find out something and had to keep calling a number (it wasn't working right), anyway, at the end of the visit we ended up having about 40.00 worth of calls on our bill, just because of the .75 charge just to get an outside line. We were staying at AKL....so much for any perks like that.

Guess I should've read the fine print :hammer:

from what i can remember, there is a little section in Innoventions that you can surf the web (cuz i've done it before) it was between the e-cards place and the globe thingy with screens in the wall with Bill Nye talking all the time (i love that guy! i took my sweet time checking my e-mail so i could hear him talk and remind myself of how great his show was)
anyway, you'll have to check...i'm not sure if they've updated that part or not. and to be honest, i'm not sure which Innoventions pavillion it was in....i'm pretty sure it was West, but i could be wrong.

yes there is an internet kiosk in the contemporary, i saw it last week but am having trouble remembering exactly where it is, it is by a bank of phones, might be off the lobby, but i have this feeling it is on the meeting room concourse, then again it could be on the monorail level (i spent a lot of time in the contemp this past week and it all blurs together) as i recall it was some absolutely insane price to check your email something like 25cents a minute (too expensive to check up on your posts in the forums)

My advice is to bring a laptop and before you leave sign up with netzero or AOL (and remember to cancel) so you can dial in from the room, and make sure that everyone checks their mail at the same time so you don't burn 75cents every time you use it.

As for avoiding the local call surcharge try plugging your laptop into one of the courtesy phones in the lobby, not sure that would work but its worth a try, plus you'll feel super cool being such an important person that you can't live without the internet during your vacation.

I don't know if this would work for internet usage but, one of the many, many, many guidebooks I re-read often says that if you dial 0 and ask the front desk to dial for you, you can avoid the 75 cent charge.

I'll be trying that in 174 days!!!!!! :D
