This will be the first time I will be visiting WDW in October.

I will at the time have a 4 yr old, 2.5 yr old and a 8 month old.

So now my questions?

Is it still a fun time and what is involved for the Mickey's Not So Scary for them?

Also, what else should we NOT miss in October with the kids?

Hi D23,

September/October is my favorite time to visit. I love the decorations. MNSSHP is great. There are tons of meet and greets through out the parks, which often involve some hard to find characters, such as all seven of the dwarfs. Plus, it's so fun letting the kids hit all the trick or treat spots that are available. And in my opinion, the parade is simply amazing. It is my favorite parade.

If you go, I think you will definitely enjoy yourself.

I totally agree with everything Harvey said. This is our favorite time to go and we absolutely loved the MNSSHP.(even better than the xmas party). You can dress up and go trick-or treating around the whole park. We took our daughter when she was 6 months old to the party. She didn't really know what was going on, but we still dressed her up as Tink. We are going to go back this October-she will be 3.
The weather was perfect for us and the crowd level minimal. Hope you have a great time. :)

So we plan on going to the MNSSHP, and I know we have to buy tickets early.

But my question is: since both my sons are 2 and under I do not need a ticket for them to get in correct?

On the side note some other questions:

How does the trick or treating work for the kids?

Do the adults dress up?

And what are your favorite highlights I should not miss for the MNSSHP?

THanks

We always go in October too bc of my birthday. Its also the food and wine festival and if your staying on property there is no worries about driving. Although I would stay away from epoct Friday, sat, and sun bc its packed during the food and wine fest:)

No they do not need tickets if they are under 3. Absolutely the adults dress up. I think it is more fun and gets everyone in the spirit. As far as trick or treating- when we went in 2007, they had different spots around the park that CM's were handing candy out. I left my daughter in her stoller and she was given candy. They also give you little bags for your candy(though you can bring your own).
My favorite from the whole party was the parade. It was the neatest parade- especially the grave diggers. Hope you have a great time.:)

October is the best time to go and MNSSHP is great. There are stations thru out the park where you go to get candy in the bag they will give you when you walk into the park. The party starts at 7 usually but I believe you can get into MK about 4 with your ticket. I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong on this. We normally just wear Halloween t-shirts but plenty of people, including adults wear costumes. My only suggestion is that you make a dining resv somewhere in MK about 5-6 so that you can eat and then go straight into the party or eat somewhere else before you get there. Alot of the food places close early and we had one year where we had a hard time finding something to eat.
Have fun!

For MNSSHP, just a word of warning since your children are so young, my kids were afraid of the parade b/c all the villians and the headless horseman that runs before the parade starts. We usually just stay away from the parade and my kids are ok. Also if you decide for costumes, it's still usually warm in October so I'd consider not picking any costumes that are too heavy in material. Yep, adults dress up too. And they start letting you in around 4pm, we take advantage of this and makes us feel like we're getting a little extra time for our money.

Downtown Disney has weekend dates for trick-or-treating so check out the calendar on that. They have a dance party and I can't remember what else, but my kids loved it, even my 1 year old seemed to really enjoy it.

We love going to Food and Wine festival in October and trying the different foods, even the kids. My daughter ate sushi for the first time last year. It's amazing what kids will do at Disney...lol!

If you're there on halloween day and staying on property the resorts usually have stuff going on. POFQ had contest by the pool and gave out candy on halloween day.

When we took my 3-year old daughter last year, her favorite attraction was Mickey's Philharmagic. She thought Donald's tail sticking out of the wall at the end was the funniest thing she'd ever seen. She knows we're going back in October and is already talking about taking a rope this year so she can pull him out.

We also had our 12 month old daughter with us last trip, and the best advice I can give you is take an afternoon break EVERY day. Go back to the hotel for a swim, nap, whatever, after lunch then head out again in the late afternoon. Everyone will be much happier for it.
