I have booked the All Star Movies for 7 nights starting May 1-7. I have yet to get my airline discount which is 50% off, but I was calling all of you that have been to WDW in May. What is it like???Hot, comfy, busy, etc etc....All the times that I have been have been in September, February, and July. I chose May 1st because I was thinking that it would be not very crowded due to schools in session and most colleges are still in as well. Am I wrong???
Please help with any and all info...

I went in May of '99. Not Really too crowded, but it was very hot (possibly an unusually hot May in Florida?). My wife was 5 months preg., and AK has very little respite from the heat. But we still had a great time. We'll be taking our 2 kids (2 and 3 years) May 2004 also.:animwink:

thanks for the reply, being from Texas, we are use to the heat, so that wont really be a problem, what resort will you be staying at in May???

I think we'll camp (in a tent) at Fort Wilderness. The kids will like that, and it makes a longer trip more affordable. I'd love to stay @ Dixie Landings (as I did in 1994), but a seven or eight day trip gets expensive. Still worth it though.

We were there in May of '99 also and it was hot. Things can get pretty warm in Alabama in the summer, but that was a really hot summer. The crowds were not too bad, but we were there the week leading up to Memorial Day. On Saturday, you could tell a big difference in the attendance. We normally like to go when the kids have Fall break in October---still very warm and not nearly as crowded.

We went the first week of May in 2002. It was very hot, 90+ degrees every day. On Monday through Thursday the crowds were very light. We walked in on everything. There was very little or no wait times. We went to all four parks and rode and saw everything we wanted to - multiple times.

Friday was a different story however. We decided to go to the Magic Kindom again and it was PACKED. The Winney the Pooh ride which had a wait time of 5 minutes earlier in the week had a wait time of 90 minutes. It was close to the same at all the other rides too. I guess it was a good thing that we did all we wanted the first four days.

We went the first week of May this year and it was hot everyday until it rained for 2 hours one day. After that it cooled down and I didn't even break sweat until I got inside the park! As soon as I stepped out of the hotel room I was starting to sweat on the days before it rained. :dazzle:
As for schools being out or in, the little ones usually go until the end of May. For college, at least my college, our last day is April 26 and then the next week are finals. So it depends on the students' final schedule as to how long they have to go. Me, myself, am actually trying to plan to go early May as well! As soon as my finals are done!! woo hoo!!:p

Been there in May, it can get hot but nothing like middle of summer, you should be fine.

The thing we noticed about the crowds were many school groups taking their end of year trips. This wasn't a real problem, just a high number of kids in big groups, most were very well behaved. The thing that bothered me most about May was the park hours for the size of the crowds. MK closed at 7:00 PM most weekday nights and 9:00 on weekends. We went in early May, maybe later in the month will be different.

thanks for all the info!!

Sounds like it will be just fine for the time that I am looking to go. I wasnt to much worried about the heat, being in Texas and all, I was just worried about the crowds taking the little one and all, all and all, I think its gonna be a good trip!!!

Thanks to you all!!

I am also going in May 2004.
I am not worried about the heat, I am from Alabama, so the heat does not bother me, plus nothing could be as hot as going in August. I did that once!

I was wondering about the crowds myself, now I know.
