Does anyone here work for Disney World in the Horticulture department? That is where I would like to work some day, I would appreciate any info you may have on working there. Thanks so much :)

Someone asked about horticulture several months ago and there were no replies, so maybe not. Sorry!

That is where I would like to work some day, I would appreciate any info you may have on working there...
I don't work there, or know their starting pay or any of that good stuff. But do you have any other questions? Several posters to this board have worked around the parks, could probably come up with some answers (or a credible bluff ).

But seriously (and with apologies for not having better information), maybe you'd like to take the Epcot 'gardens of the world' tour someday? Check at any WDW Guest Relations to see when its offered... There, you'd surely learn a lot more about the work from someone knowledgeable.

Thanks for your help, here is the deal. As of summer '03 I will have my AA and AS degree in Ornamental Horticulture. I now live 90 miles from WDW. In my perfect world I would like to work at WDW in their Horticulture department. I am a single mom with two boys and I would love to know that I could swing this plan. It would involve moving closer to the area(where to start looking?) My boys are in middle and elementary school. I would like to know if I could swing it financially. Could I make an appointment to talk to Disney about possible employment and the starting pay, benefits etc so that I would know if it would be possible. I wouldn't want to move my kids and everything not knowing all of these details. I do own a house where I live now. What should my next move be? I

I'd suggest a call to the JobLine. You can talk with a casting rep, and determine then if you want to drive over for a face-to-face interview. Interviews are done on a walk-in (and wait) basis.

What's that JobLine number, you say? (407) 828-1000 - open Monday - Friday from 8 am - 8 pm.

Here's a web page review of the Gardens of the World tour, in case you're interested. Cost is about $60 (+Epcot admission) and minimum age for the tour is 16. An unoffical source gave the schedule as Tuesday and Thursday at 9:30 a.m. Meet at Guest Relations lobby at 9:15 - inside Epcot.

Thanks for the info and the jobline #. I did go on a similar tour a while back as a Disney Institute class. We were brought into EPCOT in the morning before guests arrived and were brought on a tour of the countries, showing things like the heaters in Mexico etc. I LOVED it and would LOVE to guide those type of tours some day! Where do you work at WDW and please tell me your most and least favorite things about working at WDW. Being a Disney maniac I can't imagine any bad things, but I would really like to know the truth. Thanks again!
