WDW Extra Magic Hour for mornings

When I was at WDW my Dad & I decided to go to the Magic Kingdom the morning they had the Extra Magic Hour so we could get a head start on some of the attractions. We got to the Magic Kigdom for about 7:30 AM & I had noticed the Express Monorail running. Now correct me if I am wrong but isn't the Extra Magic Hour for WDW Resort guests only & then guests who stay offsite are then let into the Magic Kingdom one hour later?

I got into the MK 1 hour early when we wern't even resort guests! We just walked right in...of course with my annual pass in hand. I don't think they run that tight enough.

Some resort guests do prefer to drive to the parks instead of using the buses from the resort. That may be the reason for having the express monorail operating at that hour.

in my opinion coz ive seen this happen people who are not resort guests go into the parks when its early magic hours -they dont get asked for id. it happened at the magic kingdom on xmas day - i wasnt bothered as long as i got in :animwink:. ive only seen it happen in the mornings coz you dont get a wristband but i prefer the night EMH's coz its less crowded and the CM check for id and you get a cool wristband -i saved all mine for my scrapbook. i went to each park that had EMH's at night and there where no queues which i liked!!!

Disney, in general, opens their transportation one hour before opening the parks. Remember - people are not just going to a specific park, but also to the other resorts for breakfasts, and things like that. As to non-resort guests sneaking in, what does it truly bother you if one in a thousand park guests at that time isn't a resort guest? EMH's in the morning draw as many people to the park in the first hour as any other non EMH park in the morning. Be happy they do it, and you get an extra hour to play.

That's kind of harsh... I think they were just asking... besides - if it's one person - whose to say it's not 1,000? EMH is a privilage that WDW advertises for it's resort guests... why would it be okay for non-resort guests to benefit from EMH? It has nothing to do with being happy - it was simply a question - I was curious as to people's response as well!

Well, we went in May of '05 and had the kids with us, we didn't take in all of the room keys and we had AP's. No one questioned us, 2 adults and 3 children, and we all got wristbands with just my husband showing our room key. Personally, if I am paying to stay onsite and the extra hours are resort perks, then in my humble opinion, its sort of like stealing what your not paying for, isn't it? I mean sure its only an hour in the am, but, the whole idea is to give you some extra time before the crowds get arrive. Just a thought

I agree - I have never stayed off site, I always stay on site -- my point was it really doesn't make that big a difference - whichever park opens for the exended magic hours in the morning is inundated during that first hour and in fact the park itself is busier that day -- I tend to avoid early hours and go to a different park that morning while all the crowds head to the early hours park.

We were carded at EMH at Animal Kingdom 2 years ago.

People who didn't have their park admission on their room keys had to show the room key as well as they went through the turnstile.

I've been carded a few times...most of the time, they don't worry about it. I believe the idea that SOMETIMES they check would be enough to keep most of the cheapskates who try to beat the system away, but I guess not. Disney has to choose its battles, however. If your conscience is okay with cheating the system, more power to you. I, however, always stay at a Disney resort.
