---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This last parade features the best of the best, and if you love hard working kids and great music, it's a must-see.

If you're in the MK or Epcot, check out these groups, they are all great bunxhes of kids who travel the country for 2 months, sleeping on gym floors and practicing 10 to 12 hours a day to perfect the shows that they put on. They appreciate every bit of support they get.

Also, if your interesting in any of the competitions, I'd suggest checking out www.dci.org for more info.

Believe me, if my wife andf I were down there this week, we'd be checking it out....HAVE FUN!!!!

If anyone checks any of this out, let us know!

EPCOT used to have a DCI type group that performed daily back in the early to mid-nineties. They were great !! I video taped their entire performance and still watch it. The group had 1 bass drummer with 5 bass drums stacked up on his carrier and played them all at one time. Awesome, truly !!!:)

I only wish that while I was still involving with drum corps, I had been more into Disney. Then, perhaps, I would have seen Future Corps live, and not just some random recordings and videos on the net.

Drum Corps is AWESOME!

Drum Corps (DCI) is AWESOME!!! (notice my username?) haha so I was surprised to see this listed here in the forum

trust me.. you WANT to go see these kids

they are like professional football, only it's like marching band and they work harder, yes harder

1 weekend camp a month starting in November.. then move in for 1-2 weeks in June... then go on tour throughout the entire summer... practicing 12-15 hours a day...sleeping on gym floors and busses.... it's unbelieveable the work ethic

the ages are only from 14-21 in these group... so these are school kids giving up their whole summer, paying tour dues to do this, and putting on the best show they possibly can for us, the fans.

go check it out and you'll see and hear some of the best kids in the world (yes world.. some people come from different countries just to be a part of this)

I wish Disney would help them publicise a lil more and get this activity more known... but they are nice enough to let them in the parades :)

Last time DCI was held in Orlando, it was highly integrated with WDW. There were signs everywhere with Disney and DCI on them, there were many more performances in the parks, the Individual & Ensemble Competeition was held in PLeasure Island (on the main stage and in the clubs) and the Showcase of Champions (winners or I&E) was held in Epcot at the American Gardens Theater.

Wish it were that integrated this year...I might have made more of an effort to go for our trip this week instead of earlier this summer.

We just held a DCI competition here in Baton Rouge at LSU's Tiger Stadium. That was pretty awesome.

I also remember seeing Future Corps perform back in 1993. Man were they awesome. What ever happened to them anyway. Any chance of having them return?

I miss my flag, and my sabre....

Man, I wish i could be there. If anyone is there do you think you could post a few pics for me? Thanks a bunch.

And on a side note, does anyone know when the DCI championships will be televised? I know PBS usually does it during one of their raise money telethons. Any info would be great.

They were supposed to have a competition up here near DC, but it rained so they cancelled it. I'm sure whoever watched them perform at Epcot enjoyed themselves. Wish I could've been there :(

From some posts I read on the drumcorps newsgroups (re.arts.marching.drumcorps) - the parade was GREAT. Apparently, the crowds were insane, to quote, "Epcot was mobbed tonight for the parades..."

Seems like all corps involved put on quite a show for the crowds.

Also, for those interested, www.dci.org has loads of pictures, audio and video that is added to and updated daily this week. I haven't seen anything for the WDW parades yet, when I find anything, I'll post the pic or the links.

Our band has hosted both Santa Clara and the Cavaliers on their way to Baton Rouge. It was amazing to see how hard they practice and how hard traveling is for them. They really love what they do.
