Hello everyone-I'm considering trying the Dolphin Hotel. I'd like to hear some experiences (good or bad) and suggestions on what to try or experience at the resort/vicinity.
thanks:confused:
(oh yeah now that I think of it, this can be considered on-site-property-sorry about the forum leap)

I stayed at the dolphin in 2001. Enjoyed it alot. The rooms are kind of plain for a deluxe resort but the hotel is very nice. Great pool area, and the convience of walking to Mgm or Epcot is great. Plus you are walking distance to the boardwalk resort and its area attractions which are great! hope that helps

I really enjoyed my stay at the Dolphin. I booked a standard view and with my Starwoods card got upgraded to a room with two windows and a large balconey overlooking the Swan, Boarwalk and Epcot. The room was comfortable and quiet. The hotel is large and getting around it takes a bit of time, particularly to go to the Grotto Pool. The location is great with boat transport to Epcot and The Studios. You can also walk to those two destinations as well as the Yacht and Beach Club and the Boardwalk. There are loads of restaurants in walking distance.

I stayed in the Dolphin last Sept. It has a great location. It's a nice walk to MGM, Epcot and the boardwalk.... or a boat ride if you're not in the mood for walking or if it's raining. When the queues for the bus or the boat are really long it's way quicker to walk.

I did find that eating and drinking in the hotel was very expensive and given a choice I would go for Wilderness Lodge personally as the hotel rooms are nicer as are the surroundings. But it's ok on the whole and we had a good time.

I stayed in room 8033 in January of 1993, and I liked it just fine. Back then, the teal and pink tram was running from there to the France gate at Epcot, which was fun. Sadly, that isn't running anymore. As far as the view went, on the left side was basically a wall, but to the right and straight ahead I could see the lake and Epcot; I could see Illuminations from my window. My mother complains that the common areas were very loud. We also had a problem upon check-in; they gave us someone else's room! The resort also has that convention-y feel (we were there for a convention anyhow). I would stay there again, though, and probably will in December. My mother will get a discount for being a nurse.

I stayed at the Dolphin back in 1994 and unless things have gone downhill, my family and I loved it. The rooms were a nice size and larger than Disney Moderate hotel rooms. The buffet at the restaurant was also excellent. Nothing beats the convenience of being right next to epcot and the Studios. However, we had a really good deal for two rooms back then, and unless I had a really good deal now I wouldn't return. Only because for the same amount of money I could stay at the wilderness or AK lodge. But I do prefer it over any of the moderates. It is like staying at a disney run hotel, I never noticed any significant difference.
