WDW December 2005

Yes, I know, the dates are still far off, but I want to start planning (saving) now. We just returned from WDW a couple of weeks ago. It was my first trip and yep, I'm hooked. There is so much I feel like I missed!
I have a few questions about a trip in December. We are planning to go probably December 17-22, 2005. These dates are flexible, but I want/need to be back home for Christmas.
1) I noticed that the last date for MVMCP (did I get that right?) is December 17th this year. Is the last day usually a week or so before Christmas? I will change my dates to be able to go! Do you think the Osborne family lights will be at MGM next year? We live close to where they do and we used to go see the lights on their house.
2) We went with the UPH tickets this past trip for unlimited access to the water parks and Downtown Disney/Disney Quest. Are the water parks even open in December? Is it warm enough? 3) Do you think it will be any more crowded than it was in mid-July?
4) There will be 6 of us, 2 adults and 4 kids ranging in ages 4 to 16. What are our best resort options? I have looked at the cabins at Ft. Wilderness or maybe 2 rooms at Port Orleans Riverside. We'd love to stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge or the Wilderness Lodge, but I don't think we could afford two rooms at either of those, unless we can get a good discount with an AP. We did on this past trip!
Sorry this in lengthy! and sorry for all the questions! I'm ready to go this Christmas, but we can't.

My suggestion is for you to watch these boards, mousesavers.com and allears.net for this coming December to give you an idea of how next December might be.

Here are some answers:
1. Mousesavers has historical data deep within the website. You could check there for past December's MVMCP dates.
2. The weather can vary I've been in Florida when the weather has been in the 90's as well as in the 40's in December. Weather.com does have significant historical data for the Orlando area. There was also a recent thread here on December temperatures.
3. Crowds will be dependent in when you go in December. Early in the month=light crowds. Late in the month=large crowds.
4. For cost you'll need to sit down and run the numbers. It will also depend on what specials come out. Watch this December to see if there could be any deals for next year.

Just keep watching here for more information than you could ever process.

If you book your trip with me you will get free itinerary services and I will also do all of the "leg work" for your trip incuding purchasing your MVMCP tickets. I also will automatically switch your reservation over to reflect and discounts that become available.

Thanks Pam, I was already planning on coming to you. I've just got to make sure we will be able to go. While some may love the thrill of planning it themselves, I do not! After our trip in July and all the changes we had to make, never again will I do it myself.:hammer:

How about the Deluxe rooms at WL? I think they sleep six: a bedroom with 2 queen beds and a sleeper sofa in the living room. If you get the planning DVD (if they offer it again) it has floor plans of the resort rooms.

IMO, you are not planning too soon. We are going Thanksgiving 2005 and are already making some plans, etc.

And if you planning on going to MVMCP historically the last one has been on a Friday one week before Christmas. i.e. this year Friday December 19th is the last MVMCP and the value rates at WL go through 12-19 for 2004. So by going earlier in December you would be able to do MVMCP and probably take advantage of value rates at WL.

Thanks for the tip on the Wilderness Lodge Kadee and Swimmom. We would love to stay there. I had noticed that the past couple of years the MVMCP seemed to end the Friday a week or so before Christmas, so we are planning to arrive on Dec. 16, 2005 for now. We will get the better rates and get to go to the party! I just can't hardly wait. I want to go this Christmas, but it is pretty much out of the question. My husband won't be able to get the time off. We didn't take our 2 year old this past trip to save our sanity, so really she wouldn't be old enough this Christmas anyway. I refuse to leave her again for that long. We also went as part of a group of 12, a (not so) magical gathering. Not anything Disney did, just who we were traveling with!!!
