WDW CP Shuttle/Transportation

I may be going to do an alumni program in WDW this summer for three months (i've done the program in Disneyland), but am trying to decide whether i should drive my car all the way down there. I live in Utah so it would be quite a long drive, especially considering my car is brand new and I would hate to put that many miles on it in three months. So I was wondering if anyone had any advice/ opinions on the shuttles available to CPs down there.

BRING YOUR CAR. I can't say that enough. The bus system is HORRIBLE. It usually takes at LEAST an extra hour to get to and from work with the system (usually 1 1/2hr), the buses aren't always on time, and the bus driver are mean and/or don't speak english. It doesn't matter if you live in Alaska, if you have a car, bring it.

Another benefit is that you'll get lots of friends who want to bum rides off you, and you also have freedom with it, like it doesn't take a half a day to go grocery shopping, nor do you have to lug everything from the bus stop to your apt.

I brought my car with me (actually, I would probably not have done the program if I couldn't bring my car), and I have no idea what I'd do without it. I've had friends that have gotten stuck at places because the bus line stopped early (and I had to pick them up). Plus if you need to run quick errands you can get them done in an hour, instead of four which it would probably take on the bus.

I would have to agree with sarah, having a car is a lot less haassle than using the buses, especially if you end up working at one of the resorts.

I never had an issue with the bus's or the drivers, but I digress..

Bring your car. It will save you time and energy.

Imagine needing to get something small from Publix. Without your car you'd either have to walk, wait for the bus--if it goes to the store that day--, wait around for somebody, or beg for a ride.

The bus system is reasonably convenient for those working in one of the four parks and mostly within park hours. However, it is absolutely abysmal in the off-hours! Anyone in a work area with a demanding schedule should definitely have their own transportation if at all possible.

I wrecked my car the second week at Vista Way and life was miserable while it was in the shop. The only way to be on time for 5 AM shifts was to go in the night before and doze in the break room. Late nights were also bad... clocking out at 3AM meant I had a pretty good chance of seeing the sunrise before I finally got home!

Well I did find out I will be working Main Entrance Operations...I don't know if this would impact any of your advice. I'll probably bring my car, because I can't imagine wanting to go somewhere and not be able to
