WDW road signs are painted in bright hues of purple, green, blue, red, and yellow. They use the following fonts:

FHWA Series (Federal Highway Administration Standard Alphabets for Highway Signs)

Highway Gothic and Interstate are the most common fonts used.

Yep... the purples and reds are the most popular. Back in the 80s, when the new color scheme was being finalized, Disney set up a series of colored flags outside of property entrance. When guests were polled on what colors they remember, the great majority recalled seeing red and purple. At least, that's how I've heard it told.

Invero told me they picked purple because they wanted the signs to match the pants worn by the bus dirvers.

A lot of the on-property signs (the purple/red/yellow/black ones with the mouse ears on top) also use a variant of the Univers font and the Palatin font.

At least that's what it said in "Since the World Began."
