We have reservations for WDW 12/20-12/27. I know the crowds will be HEAVY. but are there any other drawbacks? Is Magic Kingdom or anyother park closed Christmas Day?
We normally go in October, but are trying something new.

Thanks,

Bob

I've never been to WDW right at Christmas time. I would assume from all that I have read that it does get very crowded. Figure school is out=big crowd at WDW. Honestly I would reccomend to you to book your stay for the beginning of December. This is what we always do. It is hardly crowded, and is beautifully decorated for the holiday season. I also believe that is is Value Season at the WDW resorts so you can get your room cheaper. It is well worth it to head down at the start of Dec. Oh and if you have little ones, most schools won't object to letting the kids out to go to WDW, as there are numerous educational oppertunities (as you know).
Have a Blast.

Other than the crowds, being at WDW for Christmas is an experience like no other. I would go every year if I could afford it. The parks and resort all decked out and the parades, Christmas stories at Epcot just make it the most wonderful experience. Definitely don't miss the afternoon parade at the MK. I hope this helps. Enjoy.

I have been to WDW for like 3 Christmas times :) It does get very crowded. We noticed it gets very crowded mostly on like the 24 till after new years. So you will have 4 pretty good days! The parks are open everday. We always spend Christmas Day at MK. :) The only way the park closes is if it is full and they stop allowing people in. By the way, where are you staying?

We're staying at All Star Movies. We've been in A.S. Sports, Music, the Contemporary, Caribean Beach, Dixie Landings, (all over).

Can anyone confirm at what time the parade is on at Magic Kingdom on Christmas Day? I want to avoid booking a meal at the same time :hammer:

Also, on a similar-ish note, can anyone tell me at what time the Macy's Christmas Parade is on at Universal Studios? I know it's running daily, but need to know the time for transportation reasons.

Many thanks!!

 :xmas:

minniemouseuk- Are you talking about the day parade? Or the night parade? Well, the day parade usually starts at 3, just like any other day. There really isn't much of a change in schedule for the parks on these days. The only difference is it's Christmas day :)

csaguy- All Star is nice at this time. Not as decorated as the others, but still nice! And also cheap! That way you can spend more during your trip! Good choice on the hotel! :D If you have any more questions, feel free to PM me! :)

Actually, its shot over several days and not everything is filmed in the MK.

The parade should be at 3.

Crowds should start really picking up on about the 23rd-24th and staying crowded until after the new year.

I do realize that but I was trying to answer what I thought the MinniemouseUK concerns were about there being a parade in MK during her visit on Christmas....

I was actually in the parade filming last year....about 90% of it is shot at the MK though and on the same day...a very few snipits are filmed on different days in different parks....

I went for Christmas day in 2000. We stayed at the Contemporary. If you are going to the MK make sure you get there early because I think the park was full by 11 am.
I thought the crowds were too much so we went over to Epcot and enjoyed lunch and desserts until Illuminations!

The Christmas Parade is actually really good. But if you there on Christmas Day, be sure to get a spot early! Tons of people are there that day...and the good spots are gone fast! The Christmas parade does run all the way until usually after New Years. At least it did.

Another bubble burst! I have never been to WDW at Christmas, but assumed that the parade as seen on TV was live. And now you tell me it's not? I guess now you're going to tell me there's no real Santa or North Pole.

 I was very disappointed when I found out I wouldn't be there for the taping for the parade. It's actually done like the first week or so of December. I'm pretty sure that's what my sister told me. If not the first week, it's the second.

We're also going for Christmas this year, and although I've been for New Year's I've never spent Christmas Day there. Are there any special breakfasts, brunches or dinners on Christmas Eve or day? Also, do most people go to the MK on Christmas Day? Would it be better to go to MGM or Epcot instead or are they just as crowded?
