hey, everyone. i go to the university of central florida in orlando and disney is holding cast auditions at our arena later today. i'd kill to even be a street sweeper on main street in the magic kingdom to be honest. i've never been to one of these sort of things. here's what's posted on my school's site:

[size=-1]If you're ever dreamt of creating memories for millions of Walt Disney World guests, this is your chance. Casting for Disney Animated Character "look - alikes" and Disney Character Performers will be held at the UCF Arena at 4:00 pm. Wear tennis shoes and comfortable attire that allows free movement and arrive early to register.

[size=-1]i'm just wondering what i should prepare myself for since i really don't know what to expect. any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

thanks, guys! :)

I'm sure someone with Disney audition experience will be able to help you further, but here are my thoughts:

Have you stage performance experience? This will be an advantage, but a lack of it does not mean you should not bother.

I'm guessing they will probably want to see if you can move to music and may set a simple dance routine for everyone to learn. They teach it to everyone one, go through it several times with everyone then perform it a couple of times in front of the audition panel in small groups.

Look alikes will have to bear some resemblance to face characters other performers will be allocated to certain characters based upon height and build ranges.

Go for it. Even if you make a total pig's ear of it you will know what to expect next time they roll around and will be better prepared for that time.

absolutely zero stage experience, but i'm giving it a shot anyway. it should be pretty interesting.

Is this just for college students? or would I be allowed to attend? when is this, by the way?
Check the official website, there will probably be a link to where and when they will be having an open cattle call.

well, the dancing audition portion was a total bust. i gave it my all, but apparently that wasn't enough. it's okay though, they asked me if i'd like to stay to fill out an application and be interviewed, so i said yes. most people left after finding out they wouldn't be characters. i stayed, filled out the app, went through the interview and sitting in front of me is a yellow piece of paper with "congratulations and welcome!" at the top. i'm so glad i didn't leave after practicing dance moves for half an hour to almost no avail. in the end it was pretty fun i suppose, although leaving with a job certainly made it better.

during your interview are you usually asked what attraction you'd like to work at? i told them tower of terror and on this piece of paper they gave me it says:

JOB TITLE: Attraction
LOCATION: Sunset @ MGM

they almost seemed to try to be talking me out of my decision at times. telling me how hot it'd be in the bellhop costume and how i'd have to work the beauty and the beast show sometimes as well as rock 'n' roller.

so anyway, later today i have an appointment at casting to take in all this paperwork i was given. does anyone know how easy or difficult it is to switch attractions/parks or even over to something like food/beverage once you're already in?

Congrats on getting a job, at least..I believe that you have to remain in a department for six months, before switching to another. You will have fun, in attractions..instead of Foods.
