Water shoes for water park

I'd like to protect the kids' feet from the hot ground and cuts etc.. My daughter always seems to scrape up her feet badly without protection.
Could they get away with either of these types of shoes or do they need to wear flip flops and then try to hold onto them on the slides?
I really don't know how this works at the Disney water parks. I know that the water parks at the hotels here (Great Wolf Lodge etc.) didn't let us wear any type of foot protection.
Thanks!

I copied this from the Disney Parks Moms Panel website.
You can wear water shoes in the park and in the water at both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. The only thing you should be aware of is that the shoes (and your swimsuit) should have no exposed metal parts such as protruding zippers or rivets. Metal is not allowed on the slides to protect their surface.

Wearing water shoes at the water parks is a very smart idea. The pavement around the parks can get quite toasty on a hot day. If you forget your water shoes and decide you want some while you're there, they do sell a few styles at the parks.

Closed-toed shoes with more coverage will always get my vote for any crowded, public place. Either of the two water shoes pictured will work, just pick whichever one has the best traction on slippery surfaces and is least likely to fall off.

It's good to know @Chernaboggles that I'm not the only one who feels this way:)

Team Shoes, all the way! I've spent a lot of time working in places with big crowds (museums and the like). People slip, fall over, trip on stairs, get stepped on, have their feet run over by wheelchairs and ECVs even when there's no water for miles. Even a minor scrape in the wrong spot on a foot can really mess up a vacation, if it makes walking uncomfortable.

On our last trip I wore really comfortable sneakers and STILL almost wiped out on the exit ramp of Pirates. You couldn't pay me to wear flip-flops anywhere at WDW.

I wear flip flops most the summer so my feet are fine with wearing them all day at a park without my feet hurting. I wear flip flops even if I'm not doing water rides that day in the summer months. Plus it's Florida so it's bound to rain for an hour or 2 everyday in summer.

Unless you wear flip flops all the time, I would go with which of the other options is most comfortable. I always wore my Teva's when at the water parks and had no trouble. I wore them all the time so they were broken in and water didn't bother them. It is wise to wear something on your feet as the concrete gets very hot, and as your feet soften from the water, the roughness of the concrete starts to make walking painful. Make sure if your feet are not tan already to use sunscreen during the day, as it can mess up the rest of your trip with sunburned feet.
