Water Parks

Hello all-

Quick Question for anyone/everyone who may have an answer:

Ive never been to the Disney waterparks but will be going this trip. Friends I'm going with are adamant they are getting "water shoes". Now mind you I am going with an SPF shirt to the parks (skin cancer scares me a bit), but not sure on the shoes aspect.

Do you think / recommend Water shoes as well???? Any insight would be helpful

Thanks

Water shoes are not an uncommon sight there! The ground can get really hot. We wore flip flops when walking around to different attractions. Sometimes we left them by a chair, sometimes we carried them on the ride with us. You'll definitely need something to protect your feet, so it's just a matter of personal preference.

I just wore my flipflops around the park and when i got in the water, mainly the rivers! I tied them together with a bobble and put them round my wrist, I'd maybe consider it next time as the wave pool in typhoon really scratched the bottom of my feet, but probably wont have the sense to go through with getting them haha. I made sure my dd had some waterproof sandles on at all times though. :)

Wow, sounds like I better bring something. I didnt even consider the ground being so hot... I was thinking more of the water slides and wave pool or whatever. Also, sounds like the wave pool has rough floor so I will have to look into something. Thank you all

We tried being all big and bad... "oh the ground can't get that hot"
well, we found ourselves running back to our locker to get our shoes! We had to ride the lazy river back to the front just to avoid the hot ground. lesson learned lol

If you're planning on wearing shoes then I would definitely recommend water shoes over flip flops. With the water shoes you don't have to worry about holding them on the rides or leaving them at the bottom to retrieve after you've ridden. You can keep your water shoes on a not worry! I usually go bear foot but I know plenty that go the shoe route. It does sometimes get hot during the middle of the day but it never really bothered me enough to wear shoes.
