Water Parks in December

Hi

Just looking at the possibility of visiting in December, does anyone know if blizzard beach will be open as we love this park?

If it is open will it be warm enough to swim?

Averages are a good place to start, but the last 3 times we have gone have been in December and each time has been different. Our last trip was during Christmas week and we were swimming each day. 2 years before we only wore shorts on one day because it was cold.

It is definitely a good idea to bring stuff for swimming, but don't get your heart set on it since the weather could be way too cold. That being said if you are from pretty far north any weather in Florida is going to feel warmer.

They definitely heat the water. I'm not sure the order of the park closings, though, or the dates.

Last year, TL was closed 28 Oct 2007 - 5 Jan 2008, and BB was closed 6 Jan 2008 - 8 Mar 2008. The year before it was the other way around (appoximately).

I think they try to switch it up each year, so that people who vacation the same time each year can alternate between the two, but I'm not sure. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

If that's true, I'm afraid you'll miss BB in Dec 2008, but TL will be open anyway.

Most all, if not all, of the resorts now having heated swimming pools. To my knowledge neither TL or BB are heated. TL and BB do close each year for about 6 weeks for refurb. Only one closes at a time, so the other can be open for guests. Usuaully one closes late Fall/early Winter...and the other closes mid Winter/late Winter. As far as the temperature for swimming...it'll be hit or miss. Late Fall/early Winter is relatively dry but air temps might not cooperate. Mid Winter/late Winter is relatively wet (although not this year) but air temps are a bit milder. Bring your swim suits either way !! :sohappy:

Water Park Closures

I just checked, and so far the dates for closing any of the water parks have not yet been set. As the others stated, they only close one park at a time.

I have did the water parks in November, it was 80-85*....the weather in Florida can be a little weird in Nov-Dec....I have gone in Nov and I needed a coat! But last year we sweated our tails off and it was VERY humid.

I was @ Blizzard Beach this past December 13th. Perfect day!!! The Water Parks are heated as are all the resort pools.

Quick question here, do the water parks (or just TL) get any Christmas decorations, or Christmas BGMs? BB is pretty much set for Christmas all year round, but does TL get anything different?

I don't think thats quite right. I was there in the 2ndand 3rd week of Jan 2007 and only BB was open.

I can confirm this. KingStefan is 100% correct. Also this allows our Guests to see a different park decorated for the holidays each year!

The rehab schedule will be posted with the November and December park hours "in the near future." :hammer:

Apparently there will be a shift this year.

Typhoon Lagoon will begin it's annual refurbishment starting on Nov 1st 2008 this year and continue through the beginning of next year. The exact reopening date has not been posted. I will post more information once it is officially released.
