Water Park footwear ???

I am going to WDW September 5-15 and I am going to both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach and just had a question about footwear. I know that the walkways get very hot (espically at this time of year) and I have seen a few posts about how some like to wear flip flops or water shoes at the water parks. I was just wondering if wearing either type of footware is not allowed on some of the slides or things or if one is better then the other. Thanks.

I know my DD though she was too cool to wear water shoes until she got to Typhoon Lagoon. Time in the wave pool and her feet were beat up and she was glad she had them to use.:)

If memory serves me right, you have to take off the water shoes while on certain slides and hold them in your hands, this is mainly for the body flumes. I believe you can wear them on the tube slides.

Hey there!

Footwear is not permitted on any slides that do not have any sort of ride vehicle, such as a tube. Therefore, slides like Humunga Kowabunga and the Storm Slides (at Typhoon Lagoon) and Summit Plummet and Slush Gusher (at Blizzard Beach) do not permit you to wear any kind of footwear as the rubber may damage the slide. However, you are always welcome to wear shoes in the line, remove them and hold them in your hands before beginning your ride on the slides that do not permit them.

Of course I may have left a few slides out, so always consult with the cast member at the top of any slides to be sure. Thanks!

I finally sacrificed cool points by purchasing water shoes recently. My only regret is that I didn't buy them sooner. For many water park jaunts, I thought they were too geeky and refused them, but once the afternoon rolled around, I wished I had some as I feel that I may lose layers of skin off the bottom of my feet on the walkways of Blizzard Beach. By the way, I feel I just lost more cool points by using the term "cool points."

I was all worried about this last August too, when we went to Blizzard Beach for the first time. We ended up wearing flip flops to the park, but as soon as we got there we realized it was no big deal to just walk around barefoot. Now granted, we were there only from 10am til about 2pm, and I grew up in towns where running around barefoot was an accepted way of life for kids in the summer  but really, it's not a huge issue.

If you do the water parks early in the morning, you shouldn't need any type of footwear until it gets hotter(And more crowded!). Although the zero-entry point of the wave pool at TL is kinda rough until you get out a ways. I brought my Speedo water shoes and didn't need em a couple of weeks ago.

Aqua shoes.... are a definite must. Or crocs or flip flops for those that prefer those types of footware.

Aqua shoes are like spandex sneakers.... pretty geeky, but save ur feet.

Just let me say you do need some type of footwear that is waterproof that you can just slip on, since if you have to go to the bathroom, you don't want to have to walk in there barefoot.
