Wanting to join the magic...

Hello. Where do I begin? The other morning, I woke up from a dream I was having about one of my trips to Disney World. From that moment on, I decided that I wanted to work for WDW. (I'm very impulsive) :p Since I own a small photography business, I figured park photographer would be the best job. I went on monster.com and to my surprise, Disney was specifically hiring for PhotoPass Photographer. I sent in my resume and now I'm just waiting. I have to thank Gorjus for all the information and advice she gave me.

Now here is my problem. I live in New York. I looked at rent.com for apartments in the Orlando area. Why do they all seem too good to be true? Great apartments for $800 a month just seems odd to me. Maybe I'm just too used to New York City where the crappiest place to live is at least $1000. Not to mention they don't even look half as good as the Florida ones.

Do I wait till Disney calls me to see if I get hired or go down to Florida and go directly to the Casting center, get an entry-level job, then try for photographer later? Should I make more money here in New York first then leave, or stay at a friends down in Florida till I get a job down there and able to get my own place? I don't even know where to begin.

I've put all my money into my 2 businesses and I'm just not making enough back for a good enough profit. If I leave now, I'd only be going down there with a couple hundred of dollars. I am about to be 21 and my motto is, "you only live once."

Not to mention I have the obstacle of a very over protective mother (Last year I booked and paid for a trip to WDW in January, she found out and canceled it )

I really want to pursue this dream of mine. I am SO passionate about WDW. I've been hovering around these forums and everyone seems so nice here. Any and all advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

How did she cancel it if it wasn't her trip? :fork: That's definately something you need to get away from, WDW or not.

You're still young so why not go. :)

I say do it. Honestly, when you're old and grey, you'll look back and wonder what could have happened if you had come down. If it's awful, you can always leave, but it's a little hard to turn back time to do it.
