They just said on the radio (WSM, the famous Nashville station that I listen to on the web) that Maureen McCormick, Marcia on "The Brady Bunch," turns 59 today.

Wow.

I think she is perpetually 17 and with that long, flowing blonde hair to many of us. And competing with Greg's girlfriends for popularity...

Anyway, I made this thread for two reasons:
- One to wonder who makes you feel old when you see them today on TV.
- To let you all know that I actually read her book from a couple of years ago ("Here's the Story"), which I found to be a really good read, not just a celebrity tell-all. In fact, she told very little about others, but spent a lot of time really, honestly talking about how she made it through some serious demons in her life that she had otherwise hidden and now had come to terms with herself. It was a nice testimonial to her husband and his faith and perseverance in helping her through in more recent years, to be happy with herself and with what God had made her. I really recommend it.

But anyway, I still feel old now! ;-)

Was reason #3 to get the Brady Bunch theme song stuck in my head? Mission accomplished on that one.

I don't feel old when I see grown-up child stars from my youth - although many of them have sadly passed away so I can't actually SEE them grown up - and the others age ridiculously well so it helps me feel young (yeah, I'm talking about you Jacklyn Smith!). I feel old when it relates to sports - like when they say it's been 29 years since the Mets won the World Series. THAT makes me feel old.

"Here's the story of a lovely lady
Who was bringing up three very lovely girls.
They all had hair of gold, like their mother,
The youngest one in curls.

Here's the story, of a man named Brady,
Who was busy with three boys of his own.
They were four men, living all together,
Yet they were all alone.

'Til the one day when this lady met this fellow...".

[Bet you can't help but finish it!]

"Marcia, Marcia, Marcia . . . " ;)

Actually, the book you mentioned sounds interesting. Glad she's in a good space in her life now.

The "And" shows that are no longer on TV make me feel old. Shows like Sonny and Cher, Donny and Marie . . . yikes, was it that long ago that I watched those shows on tv??!!

And they knew it was much more than a hunch,
That this group must somehow form a family.
That's the way we all became the Brady Bunch.

The Brady Bunch,
The Brady Bunch,
That's the way we became the Brady Bunch.
