We all have such strong opinions about Walt Disney World, but what do you think Walt would like and dislike if he could see his parks today?

Someone I know asked this same Question to an old friend of Walt's and he said Walt would have hated all the Merchandise carts!

I think he would have hated a good portion of Downtown Disney since he wanted guests to feel like they were in another world when they were on property (kind of hard to forget the outside world when you're seeing neon signs of Virgin Music, AMC Theaters, etc).

I think he would have hated the lack of creativity invested in some parts of the parks now (i.e. the off-the-shelf rides at Animal Kingdom, in Mickey's Toontown, and especially at California Adventure).

I think he would have hated the Indy 200 Speedway.

I think he would have hated the Disney Vacation Club.

I am sure he would have hated the "in-your-face" approach of the photographers as you enter the parks.

I think he would have hated Universal Studios for building a better movie theme park than the one that sits on his property.

I don't think walt would of hated the merch carts maybe the amount of carts that they have around the parks. Remember that in the early days of Mickey walt was approached by someone who wanted to put mickey on a pencil box, Walt approved this because he needed the money generated from merchandising for the projects he wanted to do at the studio, and even in thoes days it was expensive. Walt could be considered the first to use merchandise to promote a product and todays Disney is just keeping with one of Walt's early decisions of promoting his charaters. I'm not shure if he would have wanted to see Mickey and Minnie on diapers and items in that vain, but I think he would have approved of some of the "Classier" merchandise.
