Walt Disney World Resort becomes the Orlando Magic's first jersey sponsor

Wasn't even aware the NBA was opening this door. Ugh, I'm not unhappy that Disney is sponsoring the Magic, the team only picked that name due to Disney's presence in Orlando after all. But still, now it's only a matter of time before the only sport I care much about looks like it's European counterpart. Sorry Sweden, but I don't want the Bruins to look like this:

The 76ers were the first team to have a sponsor a few years ago with Stubhub.

huh? I don't understand what you mean by this.

Really?, The fact that the NBA is now using the players bodies as a billboard so they can add a few more million to the bottom line. Frankly stuff like that makes me want to puke.

It's on the order of the companies who used to buy 'Dead Peasant Insurance' so the company could profit if the employee croaked while working for the company.

Ugh. Corporate greed at new levels.

Or you can place the blame on the NBA because they're allowing this to happen?

But sponsors on jerseys are new next season, as part of a three year "trial".

I'm not a fan of the NBA's decision but don't blame Disney for jumping on this opportunity.

It may be new league wide next season, but the Sixers were the first team to have it

It's one small space on the left hand side and unless you're going out of your way to see it, you'll never notice during games.

uh, this has been the standard for most sports around the world for a long time. Here in the US, the MLS has had sponsors on their shirts for quite some time (and a lot bigger than this small logo). WNBA as well now. I agree that some of the hockey teams in Europe went overboard, but that probably because most of these teams are not that profitable.

It is just a business deal...goodness...not the end of the world.

In 2 years Player jerseys will look like a NASCAR suit, And the Euro hockey jerseys will look positively tasteful in comparison. Some roads are better left untravelled.

When can WDW finally roll out the new heads outside of promotional stuff and the castle shows at WDW. It's been almost a year at this point.

I'm starting to think "Corporate Greed" become the default attitude ford91 has been showing for months now toward Disney along with the endless amount of comments he's been making about anything NBA (Which is starting to get old) In fact can someone edit this image titled "Old man yells at NBA"

Just the first to sign a deal, it doesn't begin for anyone until the coming season.

I don't agree with him often, but I do think it looks greedy when they've survived so long without it. I'm not a fan of it on the playing surface either, but maybe I'm just old school that way. Funny how this draws some parallels to Disney's upcharge efforts...

Who knew Ad revenue could be such a hot button topic?

Interesting how many people these days are repulsed by even the most routine and non-invasive revenue-generating transactions.
