I was wondering if Disney World has a cut-off age for people wanting to apply for jobs with Disney World or with the Transportation?

I would assume they can't discriminate based on age, since they are held by the same employment laws as other businesses. I'd love for it to be a retirement job for myself someday. With that being said, they can choose to offer cast members more "appropriate" rolls if they are not "deemed fit" or "unable to fufill the duties expected" for the role they originally applied for (as with pretty much any employer).

Depending on what role you are applying for, they will check you out and make sure you are able to fulfill your duties safely, no matter your age. For instance, in attractions, or at least my area of attractions, everyone has to take and pass a hearing test, to be sure that we can hear unusual sounds on our attractions and take appropriate action. Everyone has taken it, from college-age me to the fifty and sixty-somethings I work with.

My parents retired down to Orlando and, as such, my father got a job at Journey Into Imagination as a ride operator-guy. He was there for about 3 years when he started having health issues (specifically, he'd pass out while working... I love my dad, but can you imagine the trauma a kid might experience by seeing a cast member passing out and being carried off by paramedics?). He thought his problems were taken care of, and transferred to Nemo. However, again, he was passing out (we later learned he needed to have stents put into his arteries to unclog them).

However, Disney put him on Medical leave and then offered to reassign him once he was cleared. He has since moved to Tomorrowland in retail (in other words, he doesn't have any "guest responsibility" with regards to ride loading / unloading / safety, etc.).

Now he's gone on to seasonal (his choice; he's been healthy for years now) because he actually wants to enjoy his retirement!

So the point is, Disney will "assign" or "reassign" as they deem appropriate and/or necessary.

I would assume with something like transportation you would need to tech a new drivers test every X amount of years just like a normal bus driver or truck driver. Other than that there is no way they could prevent you from doing a particular job.

A friend of mine's father operates one of the boats at WDW. He's always had his own boat, and when he retired, he decided to apply at WDW as a boat driver. Last I heard, he really loves his job. :)

Bus drivers are required to maintain a Commercial Driver License which requires a vision and health check at each renewal. The CDL has no age-related restrictions however.
