Ok, i'm not sure if this should go here or in the rumors or what but you know those Walt Disney Treasures videos, the ones that come in the silver containers? When are they going to come out with a Walt Disney World one? They have disney land and all, I'd like to see a disney world one come out. Anybody else know anything or want that to come out too?

You can search Amazon.com for these and it will show you the ones that are out and the ones that are coming out. I have a few of them and I think they're great.

There are couple of things I could suggest...

Have you purchased the "tomorrowland" Disney treasures DVD? It includes the TV special called "EPCOT." This was Walt's special describing the entire Florida Project to America. It has, of course, immensely changed from what he outlined then (he even had said in the special that it probably would change).

As for getting a WDW treasures dvd set, I wouldn't hold my breath (but then again, I don't work for them, so I don't know). A vast majority of the shows on the DVDs were from the Disney/ABC show "Disneyland," which aired before the California park opened (that was Walt's PR blitz for the park). You might hold out hope for them to put a bunch of the old Disney Channel "Walt Disney World Inside Out" shows on DVD (that'd be neat).

All is not neccessarily lost -- just this year, they have put out two new park-exclusive DVDs. One is a highlight of all four parks (using obvious 1980s footage for a bunch of it -- never seen so many acid-washed jeans and big hairdos in my life). The other is just Magic Kingdom (Mickey takes you for a ride on the railroad and other characters show you around the lands. Still, you'll notice some old footage and even some stuff from Disneyland snuck in there (I'm pretty sure that part of the Space Mountain and Haunted Mansion segments are Disneyland footage). But, it's still better than nothing at all. If you want to get these two DVDs (about $20 each), you'll have to go through http://www.mainstreetmegastore.com and pay a bit more, or you can contact the resort mail order folks. Don't know their number offhand, but a quick websearch should turn it up.

I would expect something to come out for WDW. It will eventually happen since there are so many park fans that would be more than willing to buy it. There is a lot of footage out there that could be on the DVD. I would expect to see it in a future release of the DVD's.

WDW DVD Wishlist

I'm really hoping that they release the footage from the old Backlot Tour and the full Robin Williams and Walter Cronkite Animation tour show. It would also be nice to have the production-quality video from Horizons, World of Motion, the original JII, Mr. Toad, 20K... *sniff*

Not as good as bringing back the attractions, but bringing the memories into our living room would be really nice! The other Treasures DVD sets have been wonderful so far.

Something that I'd like to see-the opening specials for each of the four WDW parks. I saw a Vault Disney episode with the opening of Epcot, but I've never seen any of the other opening specials. Was there even a special for Animal Kingdom, or just a really long segment on the Today show?

Yeah, there was a one-hour special that aired for the opening of Disney's Animal Kingdom. It was part of the Wonderful World of Disney. It was hosted by Drew Carey and had several other celebrity guests experiencing attractions at the park.

There was also a two hour special for the opening of the Disney-MGM Studios that was hosted by John Ritter.

What would also be cool would be all the anniversary specials like the one for WDW's 25th Anniversary (hosted by Melissa Joan Hart and Will Friedle) and 15th Anniversary (hosted by Bea Arthur and Betty White).

Be neat to have all of these theme park specials on DVD. (Hint! Hint! to those at Disney DVD!)
