greetings all with some sad news from the geek labs

Another talented dreamer has been lost :(

Walt Disney animator and Imagineer Harry Holt died on April 14.
Harry was one of The Walt Disney Company's trailblazers. As an artist at the Walt Disney Studios from 1936-56, he worked on many animated classics, such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Pinocchio.

As a Walt Disney Imagineering sculptor/art director from the 1960s to 1980s, Harry worked on attractions for Disneyland Park, the Magic Kingdom Park, Epcot and Tokyo Disneyland Park in Japan.

Harry first worked for the company creating artwork for the Silly Symphony cartoon short "Woodland Cafe." He worked his way up the animation ladder, working with several of Walt's "Nine Old Men," a team of Disney's most accomplished and experienced animators, on several animated features.

Harry left the company in 1956 to work in television for a few years, but returned to the company in 1962 as a sculptor at Walt Disney Imagineering. He designed models for Audio-Animatronics figures in several attractions, including The Haunted Mansion, the Mickey Mouse Revue, the Country Bear Jamboree, Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress and more. He eventually became responsible for artistic quality control and direction for the Walt Disney World Resort.

In 1981, he spent several months in Japan as Art Director for several attraction installations at Tokyo Disneyland Park.

Harry retired in 1982, but returned to the company in 1987, becoming something of an attraction at the Magic Kingdom Park, drawing character sketches on Main Street, U.S.A., and delighting Guests with stories of his old studio days.

Harry was 93.

It is truely sad to hear about Harry. I actually got to meet him at WDW back in 1989. He did a sketch from Snow White for me and signed it. From that day on, I had always looked for his work as well as solidifing my dream of working for Disney. Unfortunately, I have not been able to acheive my dream :(

Here's to you, Harry! And thank you!!!

Wow, as said above, this is sad news.

I can't help but think, however, about what a wonderfully fulfilling and long life this man led. I can only hope I live to age 93 and accomplish half of what he did in my own lifetime.
