Walking to Hollywood Studios?

And depending on the time of year that you are there, it can be a MISERABLE hot walk whereas the boats are air-conditioned and/or have a breeze that blows through...But quite frankly, any day that is 90 degrees and warmer, with that 100% summer humidity, and that walk is the craziest thing you could ever do to yourself and I guarantee you won't do it again...

Yes you can walk it... I stayed at Dolphin in February and it was a 15-20 minute walk. Id recommend it EXCEPT if you are willing to get up and take the first ferry ride of the day. Starts running at 7 or 730 if I recall.

I don't think I've ever had a more peaceful boat ride. Was just me, the people working on the boat? And the ducks. I loved that "quiet" and the nice breeze as the boat went down to DHS. And it also saved my feet some extra walking time... That was my "power walk" morning in DHS... Wanted to get everything I wanted to done by 1 and succeeded! ;) But I digress... Walk, but I recommends taking at least one early morning ferry ride. It's beautiful.

**Note: I think it also depends a bit on where you stay. Dolphin and Swan are at least a little closer but Beach, you have to walk all the way around. Wouldn't surprise me if an extra 10 min is tacked on. I was more willing to walk to Epcot than DHS. It is a good trek.

Agreed with all the above mentions of the Epcot hotels.

I've always wondered if walking from Pop Canetury/Art of Animation would be possible, it feels like such a short bus ride.
"feels like" and actuality are 2 totally different things. I live NEAR a library, and decided to walk there when DS was 2- it was 4 MILES! (he was in a stroller). I had to call DH at work to pick us up and drive us home - I STILL hear about it- he always teases, "hey that's only 20 miles away, maybe we should walk!":D

I stayed at BWV for one day years ago. We are booked there next month for a week in a Garden view. Give me your thoughts on my thinking here if you wish:

If placed on the end of the building closest to DHS, assuming there is an exit door at that end of the hall, you could be half way to DHS by the time you walked to the BW boat launch, or even the Sw/Do boat Launch. Ergo, walking to DHS would be quicker, and only incrementally more walking. If placed near the front of the resort, say north of the Main Pool, walking to the Sw/Do boat launch would be fairly quick, as it is a direct route to DHS from there.

It wouldn't be too long a walk, if it was set up for walking and had an entrance over there. But you can't really walk it as it is set up now.

BW, Swolphin, and Yacht/Beach can all walk to either DHS or Epcot. If you can walk at a reasonable pace, it should take about the same amount of time as the boat. If the boat is pulling up to the dock and there is no line, then the boat should eek out a win. But if there is a line, or the boat isn't pulling up, walking will usually be faster. If you do walk, going by the pool at BW is faster than going the long way around.

The path is fairly well lit, and not that bad to walk, but I wouldn't be a single woman walking it at night, primarily to avoid anyone staggering out of the clubs at BW.

Outside of those resorts, Contemporary <-> MK and SSR <-> DTD, and I think maybe CSR <-> BB? (Correct me here) which has a sidewalk, WDW frowns upon walking from the resorts to the parks. Yes, it may be possible and it may even be faster, but there are no sidewalks for a reason. They don't want guests wandering around aimlessly.
