Walking to Blizzard Beach from Coronado Springs?

Never walked there from CSR.. but Coronado is very close to BB. Why not take the bus? It will take you less time to get there by bus then walking, I assume.

And you'd have to cross the highway...right?

I've never done this, but there is a path the whole way, including cross walks for crossing Buena Vista Drive (and for crossing the BB entrance road). From the road entrance to CSR to the road entrance to the BB parking lot is about a half mile. But recall that the CSR road entrance is about 500 feet from the main building, and the BB road entrance is at the far end of the parking lot, which is about 1000 feet long! So depending on where your room is in CSR (which is really spread out), it could be between 3/4 and 1 1/4 mile total.

As I said, I haven't done it, but I've heard it's not so bad if the weather cooperates. Keep in mind that the path is in the sun almost the whole way in the afternoon.

The busses don't run that often, and according to the 2007 UG, it takes 34 min average and 45 min worst case for the bus. To walk from bus stop to bus stop should take no more than 25 minutes, even at a leisurely pace, half that at a brisk pace.

Still, if you're not in a hurry, walking 25 minutes in the hot FL sun in the middle of the afternoon isn't going to be fun. So although it's doable, I'd say it depends on it depends on the makeup of your group, what time it is, the weather, etc.

BTW, the path continues on down to McDonald's, and then on to the All Stars, and continues to follow Lake Buena Vista drive all the way to the end at the far south end of All Stars.

Didn't know any of this. Very useful information, thanks King! Are there any other walking routes that get you somewhere significant from a resort? I would MUCH prefer a 1/2 hour walk to waiting and riding the buses, you know?! I know Poly gets you to TTC. I'm not clear on the routes around the Boardwalk and Epcot, but have the impression that you can get places without the buses. Is this correct? Big thanks for the info. You think you know a lot about the world, but there is always more out there to know!

I've done the Disney paths before but probably won't ever again, it sounds a lot easier then it is and kinda forgot I was in Florida. There was a slight incident involving a small bridge and a alligator :dazzle:
lol I'm sure it was a rare case though, a cast member said Disney usually moves them pretty fast on the rare occasion they show themselves to the guests lol but still quite a surprise for this city dweller so early in the mourning :D

The path in question starts in the Coronado parking lot across from the main entrance. It's pretty easy to find. There's an easy crosswalk across Buena Vista Drive, then a sidewalk on the east side of BVD along a wetland area. I can confirm an alligator sighting, as well as an armadillo. But nothing worrisome. Stay on the sidewalk until you approach Winter/Summerland, and hang a left, and you'll be at the BB entrance in no time. I find the walk pleasant, and would estimate it at 20-25 minutes at a leisurely pace -- 15 if you are making good time.

The path continues, by the way, past the McDonald's to the All-Star Sports entrance. The whole way is quiet, peaceful, and safe. But then again, I like taking walks.

There are a number of paths around the resort. Here are the ones that I have used.

1. Path from All-Star Sports to Coronado Springs, past BB and McDonalds, as we've discussed.
2. TTC past Polynesian and Wedding Chapel to Grand Floridian. Pleasant views of the MK and Seven Seas Lagoon.
3. Contemporary to MK. No real views, but beat waiting for the monorail.
4. Wilderness Lodge to Fort Wilderness. Starts from the NE corner of the Lodge, near the bicycle rental shop. This is a path thru the woods to the Pioneer Hall area of FW. It is not lit, so bring a flashlight at night.
5. Old Key West to Downtown Disney Westside. This path goes along the LBV golf course. At West Side, it can be found at the extreme west side, past House of Blues and the parking lot that is rarely full.
6. Around the lake at DTD. Starts the same as the path to OKW, but uses the foot(and golf cart)bridge over to Sarasota Springs. Then go through SSR along the lake and you'll emerge near the Marketplace bus stop. One trip around the lake justifies a sundae at Ghirardelli's, I think.
7. Walkway from the Boardwalk/Yacht/Beach/Swan/Dolphin to Epcot. Well marked and short. Entrance at the International Gateway in World Showcase.
8. Boardwalk/Yacht/Beach/Swolphin to DHS. This is much longer and not all that well marked, but you'll find it if you look. At the Boardwalk end, it is accessed from near Atlantic Dance. It's a longish walk, and I have found the boat to be faster. But if you don't get enough walking in the parks...
9. Internal walkways at Fort Wilderness, CBR, Coronado, and Port Orleans are rather nice as well, but they don't really get you anywhere.

Good luck and enjoy!

Thanks for that reply. I was going to do the same, but you beat me to it! Those are all the ones I know of too. I probably would have forgotten FW to WL.

(It's Saratoga Springs)

The internal walkways at SSR are nice too. You can rent a surrey there (as you can several other places) to go around them.

There's one more public sidewalk, though places that you can access from it are limited. It follows Buena Vista Dr.

It actually starts on Epcot Resorts Drive by the crosswalk to Fantasia Gardens. From there, it goes down to BVD and turns west. It continues to follow BVD all the way to the RCID fire house at the intersection of Victory Way. From there, there's a crosswalk across BVD to the opposite side, but it ends abruptly on the other side of the street with no additional sidewalk. There's no way into CBR unless you walk across the grass and around some trees into CBR. (I believe this *used* to connect into CBR before Victory Way was built. The side bus entrance was located at that intersection. When Victory Way was added, they just left the crosswalk there and it's a crosswalk to nowhere)

Where the sidewalk crosses over the canal by the Studios, there's also connections to pathways on either side of the canal to get you to the Swan or the Boardwalk. (In fact, this sidewalk is the fastest way to get from the Studios to Fantasia Gardens)

So technically, if you were to walk across the grass at CBR, you could get from CBR to both Epcot (by way of the IG) and the Studios.

Thanks! I didn't know about that one!

Lookin on Google maps, it looks like it continues from across the street from Fantasia gardens in the other direction as well, North past the Dolphin. With the trees covering a lot of it, it's hard to tell whether it is continous or not. I can see bits of a path following Epcot Resorts Drive all the way around the BC parking lot almost to the tunnel under the water bridge by the international gateway.

Wow, fantastic information! Thanks.

I think the most useful piece of info, though, is that walk #6 entitles me to a sundae at Ghiradelli's! :) I'm telling you, you should get a job at Disney marketing with ideas like that. ;)

Yeah, if you use Local Live, you can follow that sidewalk all the way to the service entrance at the Beach Club Villas, just before the water bridge. The sidewalk then picks back up on the other side, near the Boardwalk service entrance and runs out to BVD.
In the water bridge tunnel, there *is* a paved "sidewalk" along the side of the roadway, but it's narrow and there's no separation between the traffic lane and the sidewalk. It's just a curb with the raised sidewalk.

Though I guess Disney does intend for people to use that sidewalk, because the jogging map they give out at the Epcot resorts includes the tunnel as part of the long route:

Dang it. Yes, I meant east. Sorry. :)

I was just at CSR tonight and the walk is very simple. The mini-golf is closest to CSR and Blizzard Beach is directly behind it. You can't miss it. I'd say between 10 and 15 minute walk. I wouldn't bother with the Disney Bus system unless you plan to wait longer than it takes to walk there.
