The Yacht & Beach Club and Boardwalk share the same lake. There is a walkway all the way around it. The lake isn't really that big either and it's easy to get from one place to another.

Personally, I have never tried the Yachtmans steakhouse but it does look good. If you want a really good dining experience I would have dinner right in the Contemporary Hotel at the California Grill. That is an excellent restaurant! You can book a time during the Magic Kingdom fireworks. They dim the lights and play the music as you watch the fireworks over the magic kingdom. Not to mention the food is top notch.

The two resorts are very close. Maybe a 5 minute walk. 10 minutes tops.

There is also a boat that goes directly from one to the other... but you might be able to walk faster depending on how you time when you leave and when the boat shows up.

Here's a picture of the boardwalk from the yacht and beach club so you can see how close they are.

As far as Yachtman's Steakhouse, this place is very wonderful if you like steak. The food is wonderful and the service is some of the best on disney property. My wife and I have eaten all around Walt Disney World and Yachtsman's is one of our favorites.

As far as other places we'd recommend.

California Grill at the top of the Contemporary: Very good californian cuisine. Can be a little noisy at times. But still a great atmosphere and a wonderful view.
Citricos at Grand Floridian (only a monorail ride away): Grilled meats and Seafood. I'd recommend this one over Yachtsman's if you have anyone that doesn't like steak.

Cheers!

I've never been a fan of "steak house" restaurants. The menu is a-la-cart (i.e you pay for side dishes separately).

You can get a good steak there, but the price is really not worth it. I ate there two years ago. The food is very good (especially if you like steak). However, I didn't feel like I was getting a good value.

If you don't mind the price, and you have a hankering for some nice steak, it's the place for you. IMO, I would stroll over to EPCOT and give marrakesh a try;)
