Walking from WL to FW Movie with Kids

Tried this attached to a related thread and got no responses...

We are going to eat at Trails End at WL and then the Fort Wilderness movie night in a couple of weeks. With a 7 and 4 year old, would people say it is easier to walk the path or take the boat?

How far from the boat docks or trail's end is the field where the movies are?

Also, what would people recommend is the best method to leave to get back to All-Stars Movies after the film? I am worried that it is January and the parks close early so the boat the the MK may not be still running. Does the bus run from FW to Downtown Disney to catch a bus to ASM?

Thanks, mwbrown

I don't like to walk the path at night. I would take the boat, especially with kids (and have many times in the past). It's not that far a walk from the dock.

Trails End is not at WL. It is at FW. If you are eating at Trails End, you will be in the area of Fort Wilderness along Bay Lake, where Pioneer Hall, etc. is. From there, the walk to the campfire/movie is not bad -- 10 minutes or so past FW campsites -- or you can take a bus.

To get back to ASM, you can catch a bus back to any park or DtD and then to ASM. I believe the bus to DtD leaves from the Outpost area of FW, meaning a bus from the campfire to the outpost, then to DtD, then to ASM. It will take awhile. If you're lucky, DHS or Epcot will still be open, which reduces the travel time.

IF you are actually eating at WL, the path from WL to FW is not long, but it is not lit either. If you intend to try it with kids, bring a flashlight. But the boat would be a better method, although it will likely take longer, unless you time it just right.

Thanks for the info...you are right, I was mis-remembering and we are eating at the Roaring Fork CS then going to FW. We had looked at Trail's End before picking Roaring Fork.

Also, thanks as I hadnt even thought about the path being unlit. Great info....

There is also a bus that goes between WL and FW it drops off at Pioneer Hall. You will then be able to take a bus from Pioneer Hall to the Meadows Trading Post or you can walk from Pioneer Hall to the Meadows Trading Post.
