Walking Cane

Hi all. I just had arthroscopic knee surgery and leave for WDW on Nov. 28th. Is there somewhere on Disney property where I could buy a walking cane?

The test board is a bad place to get answers.

I'd suggest talking to your doctor about what kind of support you'd need for the level of walking you expect to do in WDW and whether they even think it's healthy to go at all. If they're OK with you going, having a cane that provides adequate support and isn't hard on the hand holding it is best. Finding a good cane at WDW is unlikely, I've seen walking sticks and the like, but most were more decorative than functional. Buy what you need before you go.

Thanks Monty. Told both my doctor (who is also my boss) and the ortho surgeon that I had the trip planned and paid for when we decided to do the surgery. They were both okay with me going, but suggested a cane, and said to use a wheelchair if necessary. Ortho doesn't like to baby me, I started physical therapy 3 days after surgery! LOL!! :ROFLOL:

My Physiotherapist hated me... I kept adding weight to where I was comfortable instead of the rate she'd recommended. My third session she casually said I was making such good progress I could increase from two to five pounds... I told her I was already using 15! :lookaroun

Just make sure you have a cane that's comfortable in your hand and if the walking starts to feel like it's too much, stop and use a wheelchair. Having a set-back in the happiest place on earth isn't very "happy".

Enjoy!
