Walk to start from Caribbean Resort?

It looks like it would be a very short walk to the start from the Caribbean Resort. Does anyone know a reason not to do this? Looks like there is lots of room off of the road to walk. Looks like the entry to the start corrals is at Bypass road at Epcot Road. I know it will be dark and probably lots of traffic. Walking back after the finish shouldn't be a problem either.

Disney has always frowned on people walking on property anywhere there aren't sidewalks.

I've heard of people walking from the Port Orleans area as well, but still think that there would be some kind of obstacle in your way, and you'd have to end up hopping a fence at some point.

Basically you are not permitted to walk on the roadway sides...If you are seen by security, they will pick you up, deposit you at your destination, and warn you not to do so again.

A few people do walk to the start each year from the resorts. Disney doesn't like it in the least. At a minimum you will most likely end up having to hop the fencing in the middle of the road. And may need to walk the long way around the corral to get to the entrances. You may be able to get away with it, but don't bother trying to walk back from the finish. There is absolutely no point in that. You will need to walk right by the buses back to the resorts on your way out of the finish area. Not to mention that there will be significantly more traffic on the roads then with no sidewalks to use in that area.

I know people who have walked along the road from OKW. The main entrance to the resort is almost directly across from the start line. Once the race starts, you have to wait to cross the highway and will have to make it over the green mesh fence to get to the staging area. From POFQ,it looks to be equally easy to take the main road to see the start. It's a bit further to walk from CB and I'm not sure what security is like along Backstage Lane, especially for the marathon, since you'd have to cross the course and enter the staging area through the runners only secure zone.

Just take the bus. I did the half last year, got on a bus at 3, and I was there at a reasonable time. Granted, there was lots of traffic, but wouldn't you rather be relaxed in knowing that you're going to be dropped off at a point and guided to the start, than having to figure out which fence to hop and etc.?
