waitlisted for an interview

Hi everyone. So I applied to work for a position at DLR. I did the web questionnaire and a phone interview. The recruiter told me I was a good candidate for the position and she'd refer me for a second interview, however, she told me there weren't any appointments available for a second interview so I would be waitlisted for an interview. I've heard about being waitlisted for a position but never for an interview. Has anyone experienced this? I thought most DLR positions only require one interview.

It's been reported online that there is a "Hiring Freeze" for Disneyland because Star Wars Land flopped and hasn't drawn the huge crowds they were expecting and budgeting for.

I imagine this is just because they can't hire anyone now because Mr. Chapek cut the budget too severely for Star Wars Land and Chewbacca is only scheduled to appear five nights per week. Once they figure out how to fix Star Wars Land, I'm sure they'll start hiring again and you'll get a call back. Good luck!

Patience, indeed. I was denied a position due to it being full and they said they would keep me in mind. It was maybe two or three days later when they called and hired me.

When I applied and interviewed to work at Six Flags (in high school), after the interview the lady told me I was "an excellent candidate, but unfortunately no positions for 16 year olds were available).

While driving home, less than 10 minutes later, I got a call from HR asking me to come back because there was, in fact, a position open.

I can only imagine how difficult it is to hire for these places, trying to fill hundreds of positions across many different departments.

I can't comment on Disney hiring practices, but I can comment on hiring practices out in the real world.

Typically the recruiter "interview" is actually just a phone screen. Its to make sure you sound legit and check all the boxes for the position which they are trying to fill. Its usually a generic interview.

The "second interview" is actually the real interview with the hiring manager. This will be a more in-depth interview and usually goes more into your background and how it would fit with the position. I also like to call this the "personality interview" as the hiring manager will usually gauge if your personality will fit the team.

Then the third interview will usually be a 3 on 1 where they ask you about 1000 behavior based questions that all sound the same that start with “Give me an example of time when...”

And you run out of examples after the first 5 minutes or continue to repeat yourself.

Yep, I wasn't even going to mention all that, what I call the "panel interview".

Just make sure when they interview you you use the George Costanza opposite approach. interviewer "Mr, Iger I want you to meet our new canidate." Iger "please to meet you." Melisa.m " Well I wish I could say the same. but i find it very hard to justify some of the moves you have made. in the past few years you have caused me and the Disney fan base a great deal of distress as we have watched you take our beloveded company and flush it down the drain all for the glorificaiton of your massive ego!" Iger "Hire this woman!"
