Waiting list for resort?

I have a question, my wife's aunt is a DVC member and is letting us borrow some of her points for our Dec 2nd - 7th trip. She said we were on a waiting list? How does this work? I was wondering, should i make reservations at another resort incase we dont get the reservation? She also said we may not get our Saturday reservation. I am not that familiar with DVC so any help would be great. I just don't wanna make plans and find out we didn't get the rooms or something like that with the waiting list.

If your trip was booked at a busy time, I'd probably be more concerned.

However, I've been waitlisted three times now and each time I got the resort of my choice.

A couple of questions - did you ask for a specific resort or any of the DVC resorts? You may have a back up plan available to you by booking one resort and wait listing yourself on the first choice one.

If you tried for any DVC resort, then I'd probably consider booking a room at a regular resort and be willing to pay for it "just in case." I think it's highly unlikely you won't get your DVC request, but it is possible.

I believe DVC holds back rooms for rental at each resort. 30 days out, they release them back for use for DVC members. That's typically the point where you will find out. Be sure to find out what the rules are for your other booking regarding cancellation are as well to make sure you can get your deposit back if you do get your DVC booking.

when we went in dec on borrowed points we waitlisted for Wilderness lodge and got it pretty quickly

I booked dec 3-8 at OKW back in may wait listed for BCV. Got the call yesterday we got our wait request. This is the third time wait list worked for us. We still have3 mos + to fianlize plans.

We reserved for February vacation week (2007) . SS is our home resort but we wait listed for a 1-bedroom at either VWL or BW. We just got the confirmation today for VWL (we love that resort . We were also able to get VWL last February vacation booking at about 6 1/2 months out. I'm sure we won't get this lucky every year but so far so good.
