Wait Times for Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Mission Space... etc.

I just recently got back from a trip to great Disney World... At Magic Kingdom.. Space Mountain announced a 45 Minute wait, but since they let everyone with a fast pass go by... the wait turned out to 60 mins... Now on Splash Mountain the wait was ridiculous... They were announcing a 45 minute wait, letting everyone with fast pass go by.. the wait was 1 hour and 50 minutes long... which I thought was very unfair. They literally stopped the line so EVERYONE with fast pass would go through. People were just simply not riding it.

At Epcot... Mission Space was Walk in.. they announces 5 mins and thats what it was.

About letting FP just go..

They have to be careful. A week or so ago, I had a FP some random lady gave me as I entered Epcot. (Thank you nice random lady!) They were otherwise out of FP's.

We got in line, in the FP line, and we got 5 feet in the door before being stopped as the FP line stretched that far. Standby was just reaching the doorway, and single rider was to the door as well. This means, every single line in the Test Track building was to the doors, full of people.

FP did keep moving at a reasonable pace. I was on the ride within 15-20minutes - to be expected with a FP. They let only 10 people from the standby line go with the FP people into the preshow rooms.

Was this fair? Yes. Otherwise, FP which was reserved 4 hours prior (I checked the times on mine) would be waiting much longer, as it was they were looking at a 20min wait.

If they didn't let FP just go on through at most rides, they'd start to backup. Test Track obviously had a minor breakdown that backed them up a little. And it's not meant to be mean to the standby, but the FP people made their reservations to ride. Anyone is allowed to do it.

I do think they need to work on correct standby time. At the time you entered, it could of been 45mins or so, but then lots of people got in line. I've seen this happen often. Now that they often rely on the flik cards for wait times, it's not a CM monitoring the line and changing it constantly. Rides can fluctuate greatly within a 5-10 min period. You kinda need to judge it yourself when you enter the line - at Soarin for example, if it's anywhere before the big picture room, like the upramp or anything, it's atleast an hour.

I am not at all complaining about the fast pass.. By all means if you get it, go for it. I do believe they should post ACTUAL wait times... not 45 if it is going to actually be an almost 2 hr wait.

This happened to us in Animal kingdom on K. Safaris, 35min. or so time, and about 2hrs later we get on the ride. :brick: The fast pass to stand by was about 15:1 ratio. It does stink sometimes when you cant get a FP.

I'm not complaining about FastPass because I happen to love it but....

We were at EPCOT on July 9th and we had just gotten FastPasses for Test Track so would have to wait a while before getting passes for Soarin. We had ressies for Garden Grill so figured we would eat, then get our FastPasses for Soarin. A guy with two small kids overheard me talking about this to my kids and handed me two cards that said complimentary Disney Vacation Club FastPass vouchers that he said could be used anywhere. He said he wasn't going to use them because they were leaving the park. So, I thanked him and figured I'd give them a shot at Soarin. The FastPass distribution sign said 5:30pm to 6:30pm even though it was only 11:45am but that was better than nothing so we put the cards in. To our astonishment, not only did it give us FastPasses, but FastPasses that could be used immediately without waiting until 5:30pm.

Now, we were pleased at the time to say the least but afterwards were thinking that this is totally unfair and an abuse to the FastPass system. In an attempt to sell more Vacation Club units, Disney is giving away perks to customers that give them further unfair advantages over other paying customers making the lines longer for everyone else. This may explain why more people have FastPasses at times than should be normally.

DVC fast pass

I joined DVC - they did give both myself and my DW a fastpass card after our sales session which was good for 3 'no wait' fastpasses. So the DVC cards don't really affect the fairness of the fastPASS system.

After all you have taken 2-4 hours out of your park day to look at the DVC presentation so I think Disney is attempting to 'give back' the time spent with DVC representatives with these passes.
