Wait for free dining in 2018 or...?

Hello!
Me and my boyfriend are looking to go to Disney world for 6 days in late August and it will be our first trip. We are both currently research students and busy when the free dining promotion was going on. Unfortunately it would have been available the days we were interested in going.
My question is, would it better to wait till free dining 2018 comes around next year, or is the current hotel price worth it? For the days we are looking to go, it would be $112 a night at all star movies. Is this even a good deal, or is this the price the people who got free dining also paid? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
You pay the full rack rate price if you get free dining so that is the price you would pay even if you get free dining for the room.(no room discounts are out for August 2018 yet so that is regular price) And to add at Values and mods you only get the free quick service dining plan but you can upgrade to the regular dining plan or deluxe dining plan by paying the difference. Also there is no guarantees that each year the offer will be there or not change as the offer has changed quite a bit over the years. ;)

Hi! It looks like rack rate for a standard room at ASM is between $119 and $150 for the month of August depending on what week you go. On the website, when you are looking at a specific type of hotel room, like standard, there is a button below the price that says rate details. Click on that and then you will see another button that says view rate calendar. This will let you see how the prices vary from day to day. Whether or not free dining works for you really depends on how much you plan on spending on food and where you will eat. As mentioned above you will only get the quick service plan at both value and moderate hotels now so you would have to pay the difference if you want sit down meals. I have a family of four and free dining works for us. We stay at value resorts so we might save the $30 or so a night with a room deal but we would spend much more than that a day on food. It absolutely doesn't work for everyone, especially if you are staying at nicer hotels and have fewer people. However, or us it's a huge help so we can eat where we want. I suggest you look at the menus and see about how much you would spend on food and see if you can afford it. As much as I like free dining, I wouldn't put off a Disney trip if I could find a way to fit it in my budget lol! Hope that helps!
