Hey, I recognize the actor who played the voice of Lincoln on the episode showing right now on The Rifleman on AMC. The episode is called, "A Matter of Faith." They are having a drought in their town, and some railroad men are trying to convince ranchers to give up. An old man with a white beard is telling them to have faith, and that is the voice of Lincoln. I have seen him on many things, but I never know his name.

Check it out. It is on for another 15 minutes or so. In the meantime, who remembers his name?

Yep, credits just came at the end of the show, and it was him!

Season 1, Episode 34, of The Rifleman. I was trying to do it without cheating. I would recognize that voice anywhere!

I know we're a bunch of Disney geeks here, but does anyone else enjoy recognizing our famous Disney voices elsewhere? I know one of them used to be Tony the Tiger also. And, of course, it is fun to hear Jean Shepherd (sp?) from the Carousel of Progress narrating A Christmas Story.

I wonder if these actors ever kind of enjoyed the fact that they were still heard every day in the park?

One more thought. These were all character actors. I think it would have been fun to be a well-known character actor in the '50s and '60s, almost more so than being a "star." They got to enjoy work on all kinds of series but not have quite the pressure, I would think, of being so famous. But in some ways they actually often made the show. And producers seemed to know them to be dependable. Character actors are under-rated.

And the best ones were the ones we often recognized but couldn't always remember from where, or their names. (Of course the internet has changed all of that!)
