Visiting WDW in a Time Machine.

If you could visit WDW anytime in the past when would it be?
I'd have to make it 1983, EPCOT was new, all the cool omnimover rides were in their prime, World of motion, JII. WDW had the original Pirates before the politically correct stuff changed them (the ladies being chased by pirates, and vice versa), Mr. Toad was still the cool place to be in Fantasyland. 20,000 leagues, If You Had Wings, the original monorails, (hey I liked them, crouching and all). This may be all just fond memories but I think the place was just more magical then. Remember the Penny Arcade?, that little golf game where "Big Al" hit the ball towards the holes, the helicoptor game, and those cool flip movies. I could go on and on, but I digress when would you go to WDW if you had a Time Machine.

I have a feeling Grizz is gonna LOVE this thread...

Yeah, the old Main Street was cool, and I also miss Toad and some stuff at EPCOT, but there's also some cool stuff today, like ToT and RnRC and Splash... I just wish Disney would learn from its own past and expand without killing, they sure have enough room for that.

Oh, popkid, that's so sweet! (how are you these days, btw?)

I would choose either when Epcot opened so I could enjoy all the classic stuff there or 1974 when I went for the very first time so I could remember it better. :) Maybe that was 1975.... :(

I would go back in 1990 for new years eve, when i was there and be in epcot at midnight for illuminations on new years eve, I can still rember going onto journey into immagination, multiple times back to back with out having to wait in line. being able to go on horizons and seeing all of the new attractions at the mgm studios and the wonders of life pavillion. also I thought it was great to see the old tommorowland in magic kingdom and just go on some classic disney rides such as World of motion and Mr toads wild ride. oh and going in to the magic store and penny arcade in magic kingdom. This i think is when Disney world was disneyworld still with new updates and parks, without the over commercialization that is taking place right now, there were stores that sold many different things such as magic trick and there was the penny arcade and purchase davy crocket toy guns in the frontierland. now if you go into a store they all sell the same stuff and nothing is the original.

1971 when my parents first went there on their honeymoon. Little did they know I would be with them 5 yrs later in the same place. I'd like to watch them from far away and take some pics of them. Then i would go and buy every souvenier in the park.

Well, we're visiting in a time machine, right? I would go into the future , like about 20 years or so. Mabey even further, like after my lifetime, and see how Orlando has progressed.

I would like to go back to 1987. It was my first trip to WDW. I was 29 years old but I felt like a little kid that day. I will never forget the feeling when I stepped onto the property and began my first WDW experiance. You never forget your first time.

Does anyone remember the cap guns that shot the little cork balls? I remember getting one in Frontierland. what about the lawnmower tree at Fort Wilderness?

This is an easy question.....1986. Dreamfinder and Figment were still going strong at JIYI. Spaceship Earth was running the Walter Cronkite spiel. Things you bought came in those cool white, orange and purple paper bags. Horizons was still going strong. But most important, the place wasn't as crowded. It truly felt you were in another world. There was so much open land. The place is too built up now, even though I realize they have only developed 25% of the land or something like that. Sweet memories....Oooh. And of course there is the penny arcade, 20,000 Leagues, and Mr. Toad. And of course the old Tomorrowland. And the most important thing in the MK......the old Tiki Room!!! I hate that new show. EPCOT holds the most memories for me though, and 1986 would definately be the year!

I remember those. My brother got one before we left and when we got to baggage check he told the lady when Mom put the bag on that there was a gun in there. Needless to say the took the toy and he cried all the way home. Silly little 5 year old. Can you imagine if that happened now............There goes the WHOLE Airport.

1995. That was my favorite trip. The new Tomorrowland had just opened, ToT was more or less "unknown", or at least I think it was, early entry was the new fad and some of the classic rides were still there. All I know is that this was my favorite trip because it was just the "boys": Me, my bro, and my Dad. My mom couldn't come since she had school during my bro and my school break. I was 12 and full of spunk and loved waking up early to rush over to the parks to ride my favorite rides. This was also the trip where we rode all 3 Mountains in 45 mins. I still can't believe we did this. It was just a very enjoyable trip.

1985...when EPCOT Center was in it's heyday. I'd ride World of Motion, Horizons and JII over and over. I'd go see Magic Journeys, and Kitchen Kabaret, and then I would buy up all the old merchandise I could carry.

I would say '90. It was my sixth time, but the first time we flew to Orlando. The previous trip had been 3 years back (a long time when you're young). I wondered if it could be better than the previous trip since we got to ride up in front in the monorail twice, once riding through Contemporary. Anyway any thoughts of getting bored with the familiarity of the parks vanished because Norway was new, Wonders of Life was new, as was MGM Studios. The highlight was Star Tours.

This would be a very hard decision. I was really young my first time there but I remember the first day like it was yesterday. it was like 1979 and FT wilderness only had 1 perfered section and the sites were HUGE. we set up the pop up camper. the next day we hopped the train right from our campsite, yup I miss that old train that goes around FT wilderness. at that time it was just the magic kingdom that was there and I would mis all my favorite EPCOT rides. so I think I would skip ahead to a year or so after EPCOT opens. they were still useing TRAMS then not Buses. and all of epcot was new.
