I have yet another quick question. If your acom is off site can you still visit on site hotels and have a look around, meal, drink etc..

Absolutely! Just be sure to have picture ID. Some resorts will issue you temporary parking permits for your meal time if they're busy.

Or you can take one of the resort buses there and get off and look around. Then just hop on one of the buses back over to another location and take a bus somewhere else. It's a fun way to pass the time.

Absolutely, Animal Kingdom Lodge is like and attraction on its own. That place is fantastic and i usually hang out there for an hour if we have dinner reservations.

Many people like to spend a day or two just wandering around the resorts and the restaurants are frequently used by the locals. Have fun!

Yes and no. If you are AP you have no problem. However, WDW security is now checking your tickets at TTC more closely as you enter the bus, monorail, and boat areas as there have been many complaints about freeloaders using the transportation system, etc. without buying a ticket. You must show ID at the entrance to any resort and the guard may or may not allow you to enter, unless you have a reservation for a restaurant.

A valid park pass gets you on WDW transportation, you don't have to be staying onsite. Locals, who are not using the parks, use the restaurants all the time. If you arrive on WDW transportation you are not questioned and the security gate.

We have visited other resorts "to look around and shop" and have never had any problems.

Yes....and its great way to spend some extra time. We always love to visit the resorts. I feel they are such a part of Disney (great theming, etc.)

Plus Disney would love you to spend some extra $$ at their restaurants or gift shops.

They will usually go through the formaility of asking why your visiting and checking you ID at the gates but as someone else said some of the resorts are an attraction unto themselves. AKL, WL, Boardwalk, etc.

Resort hopping can help you determine your favorites so that you can save those extra $$ for your next trip and stay on property...Its sooooo worth it.
