Visiting Fort Wilderness to see Christmas decorations

Having heard so much about them I think we would like to go visit Fort Wilderness to see the Christmas decorations that are put up by the guests. We will be in WDW between November 13 and 24. We are thinking of renting a golf cart just for the evening because I can only do so much walking due to some health issues.

I have two questions:

1) Will there be plenty of decorations up in November or is it only worthwhile to go in December?

2) If we drive to Fort Wilderness (we will be staying at another Disney resort) is there somewhere for us to park our car that is anywhere near where we would pick up the golf cart?

Thanks for your help!

I think you will be disappointed. Most of the heavy duty decorating is not completed until December. We were there the 2nd week of December last year and there weren't as many campsites decorated as there had been the year prior when we were there closer to Christmas.

The sites that are closest to Pioneer Hall generally are the best decorated and an easy walk around. Renting a golf cart in November would be a waste of money, IMO.

Why not just take the boat over from MK and walk around the loops near there? As Tuvalu said, that's where most of the early decorating is anyhow. Depending on how busy the campground is sometimes they are picky about who parks there.

1.) Possibly, worth a shot either way.

2.) You pick-up Golf Carts at the Outpost now, so plenty of parking. In the past, they'd only let you rent one if you were a FW guest, but the last time I was in FW in March, their seemed to be a bazillion carts to rent... which in the past, the Bike Barn always rented them all out, but I guess they finally learned to have enough on hand!

The campsites that border the main roads in loops 100, 200, 400, 600 and 700 are the main players with putting up Decorations. But each loop has hidden gems, I always remember the 1123 site, if I recall. They would always be there from October to late winter... and always decorated, but that was years and years ago.

I'd suggest you just drive through via car, once you get through Security, you can freely drive through FW, there isn't a gate after the main Security stop.
