I'm surprised the never tried to work one in at the Polynesian as well. Seems more at home than the Disneyland hotel ;)

Anyone notice how few WDW bars have specialty drinks? For the most part, all resort bars have the exact same drink selection menu. I brought this up to a bartender at a certain resort who's been bartending at WDW since the 1970s (!!!), and he said Disney's spent the last few years homogenizing the drink menus all across property so that all bars pretty much serve the same drinks. Something about bartenders being able to pick up shifts elsewhere without needing new training (I'm sure being able to print one drink menu for everywhere was a perk, too). To me, sad it is, this indicates that Disney is moving away from specialty bar experiences, not looking to create new ones.

Forgive me, but what is Trader Sams?
New Bar at the Disneyland Hotel. It's an "Enchanted Tiki Bar" Link to Bar Page

Was there last summer and a pretty cool bar! According to one of the bartenders, a long lost AC hangout at first but have since gained their own following and regulars. Love the vibe there and the food and cocktails are pretty decent!

On the Disneyland Hotel property so don't know how easy it would be to stop by regularly but really enjoyed it!

While there are aspects of Disneyland that I love, Disney World is its own place and therefore, some stuff will be unique to WDW. Likewise, some stuff will be unique to Disneyland. It gives two different experiences for those of us who can go to the other every once in a while.

Trader Sam's @ DL has scored big points within the Tiki Community. I have been there twice & the pics posted above show almost the entire interior of the bar, its not huge. We have heard that if a Trader Sam's is constructed @ DTD in the new scheme it WILL have a larger seating/floor area than DL's. ;)

I was there last year. When you order any of the special drinks they hit a button and certain things happen inside the bar. I love the place and hoe world gets one.

Genie, you area correct this is slated for DS! Trader Sam's @ DL is so small, but they do have tables just outside where they can serve you drinks. Tiki fans hope the DS Sam's is larger, yes not supersized. If they build it FLorida would have a one, two Tiki punch. The Mai-Kai in Ft. Lauderdale the last large surviving 1950's Tiki Temple in the USA & then Trader Sam's @ DS.
